I guess I should have ranked my boy Herbert as the #1 QB in the class instead of the #2.

I still prefer Burrow, but Herbert has looked good. Curious to see how Tua looks.

If you actually watched Jones though he never looked that good. Zero pocket awareness, ugly ints into triple coverage for no reason. I was about as low as you can get on Herbert before the season started but he’s been really impressive
He only looked good against awful teams though, much like Baker Mayfield the previous year.

Justin Herbert long term

Postby Pullo Vision » Sat Nov 28, 2020 9:27 am

In non SF leagues, Herbert went in the 3rd or fourth rounds in rookie drafts. He's way way way out performed that- depending on scoring system, he could be top 5 in a fantasy league's PPG for QBs, giving great return on draft capital.

What are his long term prospects? Has he put up bad plays defenses can exploit? Has he struggled against certain schemes DCs can attack with an offseason of film study? Where do you put his dynasty value or rank him?

Herbert has the potential to be an Uber Stud and the best player from this class. Don't Sleep on him. I drafted him in the 2nd round of almost every 1 QB league I am in. I took him 1.6 in my SF league here. I get many thought it was high but absolutely loved his throwing motion and quick reads on tape.

This kid is a Beast. Think since week 5 he is the 2nd best QB in the league. I gave him a couple of weeks to get his feet wet so to speak.

I think he'll be a long term fantasy stud. Don't think he'll be Pat Mahomes or Russell Wilson in their best years, but he'll perennially be in the top 5 in points per game.

If you need a QB, I'd be checking in to his price, which while it has gone up lately, might still be reasonable for many years of solid QB production.

I didn't know a whole lot about him going into rookie drafts this year, but he fell to me in the late 2nd & early 3rd, so I drafted him in three of my leagues. In two where I had him behind Kyler Murray, I traded him for very nice pieces. In the third I had Wentz as my starter so I won't be moving him unless someone severely overpays.
Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.

If Herbert was as good as Mahomes or Wilson, I wouldn't be shocked.

Defenses always adjust to players after their rookie season, so it will be interesting.

But, it's hard not to absolutely love what he's doing. He's averaging almost 300 yards/gm with a 22/6 TD-INT ratio. And he's been one of PFF's Top-5 QBs against pressure as well.

He's QB4 since Week 2 and QB2 since Week 5. He will be a Top-5 QB in dynasty after the season and depending on what happens next season, we could be talking about a truly elite QB in the NFL.

I was listening to a podcast the other day and they were discussing Herbert and where he would be taken in 2021 startups. The guys discussing it agreed that after Mahomes that Herbert would be in that next group with R.Wilson, D.Watson, etc. Personally, I love what I’ve saw and with his arm talent, I think Mahomes is the only QB that I would take over him. I know it’s still early but he looks phenomenal and he can scramble too.
I’ve never been crazy about trading high picks for QBs in 1QB leagues but I’m so convinced on Herbert that in one of my 1QB leagues, I traded my 2021 1st for him but in that league I’m a contender so that pick will be anywhere from 1.08-1.12. I’ve got him in 4 leagues but wish it was way more.

Mahomes and Kyler are a clear top tier for me, but after that Herbert is in the group with Watson, Wilson and Lamar.

QB: Mahomes, Fields, Love
RB: Bijan, ETN, Pollard, Achane, Herbert
WR: Kupp, Hill, Metcalf, Ridley, Jeudy, D.J. M, Burks, Hollywood, Wan'Dale
TE: Kyle Pitts, Goedert

Yes, how did I forget Kyler. I would take Mahomes/Kyler over Herbert but after those two, I think Herbert is a possibility in 2021 startups.

I'll wait after seeing what happened to Baker. I will say though, Herbert has played some legit teams and defenses. Baker beat up a bunch of scrubs. Daniel Jones did too.

Love him long term. I was pissed when Luck retired but was lucky enough (pun intended) to nab Herbert!

He looks pretty great to me watching him play.

The funny part is he didn't have anywhere near the hype coming in compared to the other guys so it's not like most of the really crappy dynasty teams drafted him.

He's on plenty of good or playoff dynasty teams as more of a flyer from what I've seen and I'm just talking 1QB, never mind SF/2QB.

Oh look, drafting quarterbacks is still a giant crapshoot IRL and fantasy, I feel shocked!

I had a leaguemate offer me Kyler and Slayton in my 10 man 1 qb league yesterday for Herbert and a mid 2021 second. I haven’t watched a ton of football this year for various health reasons. I was curious what you all thought of such a trade. Think I should do it?

I’m pretty deep at WR and will be getting more in the coming draft with my 6 firsts. I could alternatively use that second in a deal for a rb that I desperately need. But as others have mentioned, Kyler from what I can tell is in a higher tier and is pretty tempting.
