The alternative not listed is the dreaded RBBC. I don't know that Snell or McFarland would be given the job outright.

In all honestly, with the cap likely to go down, I don't think Conner will find a lot of takers on the open market. May very well end up resigning on a short term, cut price deal.

Tomlin likes a main guy at RB over RBBC, but I can see any possibility with the expanded regular season starting next year. Outside of Conner, if Tomlin wants a bell cow back, that person doesn't seem to be on the roster. Snell isn't a pass catching back and they've hardly used McFarland this year to really see what he can do.

I think Conner gets resigned to a reasonable deal and they continue churning with him.

If Big Ben is back next year they should really be all in for a title. If I were the Steelers I would call the Giants about Barkley or be willing to spend a 1st or 2nd on a RB and push all my chips in.

I see them re-signing Connor to a 1-2 yr cap friendly deal. Doubt he will get a lot of interest on the market and he fits well with what they want to do. He is likely more appreciated by the Steelers than any other team.

Not to say they won't take aggressive measures to go all in, but that has historically not been the Steelers style. Trading away a 1st for Minkah was a very aggressive move, at least for the Steelers. I can pretty much guarantee they aren't going to go after Barkley or any other stud RB. Will they draft one in the 1st round? Probably not, because top rookie RB's can often be had in the 2nd or 3rd round but I could see them drafting a RB in the first 3 rounds.

Besides, they're clearly hoping to win it all this year, next years SB isn't even in their thoughts.

None of them. As much as I'd like to see Snell or McFarland take the damn job this year, it's just not happening. And next year my guess is they bring someone new in to compete.
