Jakobi Meyers

Postby Orenthal Shames » Tue Nov 10, 2020 2:33 am

30 targets and nearly 300 yards the last 3 weeks.

He essentially matched Harry's season long output last night and has matched his career output the last 3 weeks.

Could he be a fantasy WR2/3 in dynasty in 2021 and the foreseeable future?

why the hell not i guess. I tend to avoid all Patriots, especially their RBs. Belichick has an annoying tendency to give the lion's share of carries/targets to one guy then completely doghouse him the following week.

Before anyone says it... He’s undrafted so low chance.

But speaking for myself, I’d definitely place him in that WR2-3 range. But we will see for sure what life looks like for him after Cam.

I had him all last year hoping for him to shine, but he was buried so far on that depth chart he never got the chance. He's worth a flyer, but I wouldn't be shocked if next week Cam throws 14 for 30 and 129 yards.

As long as they have a QB who has no downfield accuracy and very few other weapons, he will be productive in PPR formats.

Just know what Meyers is and what he isn't. He's not big, he's not fast, he's not athletic, and he doesn't score TDs. He is a good short route runner, especially over the middle. He's a reliable stick mover in an offense that hasn't pushed the ball downfield since Randy Moss. The pats have always had a spot for this type of reciever. Lately it's been Edelman, but currently it's Meyers.

This. I've been holding him in a large roster league since last preseason. He looks so smooth and is always open - like (a lesser?) Diontae Johnson. But then he never got any play last year and it continued into this year. Almost dropped him earlier, but I thought about what I saw last year.

I'm not putting him at WR2/3 because the situation is so unstable and they've definitely shown they aren't scared to sit him on the bench. Edelman and Harry are out etc. I like what I see, but until they commit I don't think you can say that.

No idea why the Jets(DC Wiliams)surrendered the middle of the field to this kid when the Pats had nobody capable of winning on the outside.

I don't feel any particular way about him other than he needs to be owned and he needs to acquire a mouth guard. Seeing that smile everytime he gets a penalty is infuriating lol

You basically just described Tyler Boyd. I think Meyers is a WR4 as of now.

Yea, just took a look at dyno rankings to see how many current players that I dropped ended up studs: only 2 lamar Jackson (had tons of injuries, was 1 QB league, voted to move to SF starting 2020 the next offseason 🙄) and Thielen (still pains me).

A lot more situations were a guy has hot streak and I panic I did it again, so, guessing Meyers ends up in that situation.

But, still, I’d be excited if had him right now.

The way Cam locks in to his favorite targets....I think we're in for a good ride the rest of the season. I'd plug him in as a starter the rest of the way this season as they have no one else to really throw to. Maybe someone would jump for a 2nd if those that have him want to trade.
