Not a bad game at all. Glad I picked him up, not getting overly excited though. Maybe he gets the rest of season to try out as starter? I mean if I'm the Jags, why not see what you have? It's obvious they are over Minshew, for now at least.

Oh and I'm starting Luton and Mullens next week with Mahomes and Ryan on bye so

Short-term, maybe?

Long-term, the Jaguars currently have the 2nd worst record in the league and will have to take a QB.

The question isn't Minshew or Luton, it's Fields or Lance.

No comment on Luton specifically, but that "1st player since..." part is hilariously not very useful. I imagine you could make a first for almost every player in the NFL by modifying the parameters. It's a pet peeve of mine if you couldn't tell.

Fields is more likely to overtake Lawrence (and that's still pretty unlikely) than anyone is to overtake Fields. Lance isn't remotely the lock for QB3 he was viewed as before the season, BYU QB Zach Wilson is possibly ahead of him now and Mac Jones and Kyle Trask are making serious names for themselves too. Lawrence and Fields are head and shoulders above the rest of the QB class.

The point is, Luton isn't in the discussion.

He had an impressive first week! I would typically say lets wait and see and its true that the Jax coaches said the job is open for grabs, but I worry that they might be targeting a rookie again in next years draft.

I like how Luton throws for 300yds and a TD and it's "impressive" and Minshew throws for 300+ and multiple TDs almost every other week and he needs to be replaced.

Put me in the camp that is confused why Minshew was getting benched. I get the injury played a part, but he can't win every game by himself

Winning too many games to effectively tank.

I think that storyline must have been largely manufactured. The defensive is giving up a ton of points and isn't really stopping anyone. Pretty sure I saw they were 26th of 32 on points allowed. Surely they don't expect anyone to win with the current situation.

Is 1 game too many? Lol I agree though, it's on the team and the defense is a big part of the problem. Give Minshew that defense that took Bottles to the AFC championship and I'd be interested to see where they go

May as well see what he has and if he proves capable then you have an incredibly cheap backup and/or bridge starter for a rookie for the next 3 years. You can then look to move Minshew for something. Surely you'd get a late round pick or a reasonable role player in trade for him.
