Why isn’t Dak on IR??

Anybody know why the Cowboys are dragging their feet on this? Is there some financial incentive to not place him on IR? I feel terrible for the guy, but this is kinda screwing over my dynasty team.

This is why my league moved to allow "O" Out players on our IR slots also some years ago, because there are too many long-term situations like his or week to week injuries that yo-yo from Q to D to O that screw you out of roster space.

The IR purists can keep their antiquated way of using IR. A better way is an IR/Out slot. It's not "fun" waiting for a guy to officially be put on IR when it's obvious he's out for the year and it's simply a formality on the team's part.

Honestly, it's not "fun" at all managing IR or taxi spots, IMO. I've come around to hate all the extra admin and headache they are with such little payoff. Yeah, they're simulationist, I get it, but I've grown tired of them (right up there with the stupid simulationist heritage of K and D still being in some dynasty leagues, like mine, but that's another topic).

If I ran a league, there would be no special slots, just more of them, so you can focus on getting a team you like, not managing annoying special slots.

Yeah, it can be frustrating sometimes for sure. I wasn’t necessarily venting about my league’s IR settings. I was just genuinely curious if anyone could shed some light on why some teams will wait so long to make it official.

There is no reason to unless they are bringing someone else onto the team.

They will. Likely this week. There just hasn't been a need to open the roster spot yet. His season is done, but the lowest estimate I've heard for a possible recovery is four months. Not going to happen -- either Prescott recovering in that time frame or the Cowboys still playing football.

But, until there is a need to fill the roster spot, there's no need to move Prescott to IR. It's frustrating for fantasy football owners who want to move him to their IR to free up the roster spot, but we'll simply have to wait (again, best guess is this week).

They’re playing 4D chess. Jerry is hopeful the season is suspended due to COVID and by the time it starts again Dak will be ready (maybe Saquon too 🤞).

As good of an explanation as any.

Regarding fantasy Commish duties. A Commish should not go down the slippery slope.

IR is just that. When he goes he should be eligible

This is why when we set up our league, IR rules were set up to that players who were “Out” for 5 weeks or more could be placed there, as long as the owner could provide credible documentation that supported it. That way owners weren’t at the mercy of NFL teams PUPing players or holding them on active rosters and just inactivating them. We also made 2 of the spots “Designated to Return” slots where players can be activated after minimum 7 weeks on IR so that it would be similar to the NFL when they changed the IR rules.

It helps a bunch on roster management and mfl modified IR rule setups to handle this.

You’re list as “Player of the Year” at a dynasty MB? And you want your FF to be a lot simpler for you? My experience with most dynasty players is that they enjoy some deeper management of their rosters. It’s why they much prefer dynasty over redraft or keeper leagues. They don’t consider expanded rosters and greater depth to the FF experience “stupid”.

FWIW, you might want to stay far away from IDP leagues if starting Ks is so annoying to you. Hell, we even start Punters. They guys in the league really enjoy the additional challenges.

I won't take this too personally (even though I feel attacked! :P) because there's enough of that around here.

Actually, I've done it all, including IDP, which I've loved and is a lot more challenging and fun than D and K, which involve very little to zero strategy vs IDP.

It's not challenging to manage IR slots and Taxi spots - that's an illusion. It's more administration. At best, 80% boring, excessive admin and 20% challenging, maybe. Strong stance, didn't always have it, but that's where I stand now.

Feel free to define "challenge" however you like - I feel like I know the difference between excessive admin and challenge, and I'm more than fine not everyone agreeing with me. Even though they're wrong... haha
