Steelers WR FF Rankings Heading into 2021

Postby dmac37 » Mon Oct 12, 2020 4:05 pm

The 3 Steeler WR's seemed to be ranked all over the place right now due to the Claypool outbreak, JuJu disappearing and Diontae getting banged up. Looking ahead to next offseason, how do you see these 3 being ranked.

Too early to say, depends a lot on if Juju is back or not.

Throw a dart ... you have a savvy veteran QB with multiple quality options ... makes it tough on defenses & harder on fantasy owners.

I'm guessing JuJu walks in free agency.

Also, so much of this depends on Big Ben long-term as well. He's 38 and it's hard to see him lasting like Brady.

I think all 3 still have high value heading into 2021.
Claypool looks like a future volatile deep threat. He's a guy that should turn 6-8 targets into 4-5 catches deep down the field similar to a poor man's DK Metcalf.
Diontae continues to look like a YAC machine with immense chain moving potential. He just has to stay healthy.
JuJu will definitely have the most variation depending on what happens during the offseason. He's running the routes but the targets are nowhere to be found for him on this current offense. If he stays in Pittsburgh, it nukes his value. If he goes to a highly explosive offense that looks to get him involved, he may be highly touted for a 3rd straight offseason.

It's early, but here's my view

Claypool
Diontae Johnson

JuJu

Nothing too negative to say about Diontae Johnson, but I'll take the bigger, physical talent in Claypool over Diontae.

So true. Juju won't be back, IMO. Ben is nearing the end, and have no idea who the QB will be. Claypool has had a big game. Too early to see how teams adjust D's to him, or if the Steelers consistently throw his way. The Eagles secondary has been a mess for years.

So many down on juju. I can only make rankings like this make sense if people are accounting for perceived values/rankings. It's as if juju is valued by consensus as an upper tier WR but not valued by the individual ranker/poster there, or Claypool/Diontae are valued as lower level WRs by the community but higher by the ranker.

Correction: Claypool has had 1 big game (3/88/1) and 1 MONSTER game.

He has a speed score of almost 130, which is just ridiculous. I drafted him 25th in one league and am actually hoping for a down game or two so I can get him for less than an arm and a leg in my other league.

Its a little early and big ben is in his twilight years but are ppl seeing dk like ascension for this guy assuming juju is gone? Although maybe owners are already pricing that in.

I've been figuring he'll finish out his contract and then retire. Next year is his last.

It's still early, but Claypool looking good when he can take advantage of the matchups. Its a pick your poison type of WR core. Will be interesting to see how it shakes out and how defenses will choose to cover them. Diontae needs to stay on the field, but I still like him as a target hog. Hard to deny Claypools big play ability + size and speed. Good time to buy Diontae and I'd probably wait to buy Claypool til he puts up a dud.

For 2020:
Juju
Diontae
Claypool

Claypool isn't a buy this week in most leagues because owners are going to be too focused on the 4 TD game (and maybe 5 TDs if he doesn't have 1 called back on an iffy OPI).

I'm not sure why he's necessarily below Diontae Johnson at this point though. Why are people so high on him? Is it really just because he got a lot of targets weeks 1 and 2? He doesn't have a 100 yard game yet on his career. If I could get either Diontae or Claypool at the same price I think I'd pick Claypool.
