One of the best prospects in a t-shirt and shorts, but at some point it has to translate to production on the field. If it didn’t at Wyoming in the Mountain West I have a real hard time believing it will in the NFL.

Not buying him at all. Deer in the head lights under pressure. Inaccurate most of the time. Average mechanics. Arm talent is way overrated.

Well anyone who actually followed some games of hisnkast year would known that his line wasn't great, his receivers dropped a bunch of balls and he had a ton of epic throws. Sure he misses some too, but happens to them all when they get thrown out of rhythm.

I will be true to my name & be contrary. I love him as a prospect ; he made several top shelf touch throws in the senior bowl. Very affable and exudes poise in interviews looks and acts like a franchise QB . I think he can be really good , best case is he sits for a year or two before needing to play.

John Elway had great arm talent too. I get arm talent isn't the only thing. Lol. So if he does what I stated he needed to do, what's your assessment then?

Yep. Thank you. Id take a weaker arm but better everywhere else QB. Like a Chad Pennington over someone with a rocket arm and nothing else.

perhaps but in 8 more seasons than russell - pennington won 2 playoff games one of the best things about the big live arm guys is when they fail it is usually apparent very quickly . As opposed to the kirk cousins alex smith chad pennington slow asphyxiation of your franchises hopes and dreams. Plus russell didn't give a damn so he isn't an apt comparison to every guy with a huge arm. The raiders were (are) a vomit puddle mostly for the 1st decade & a half of the 2000's a complete rudderless ship. Comparing every big arm qb to russell is on the line with comparing every 4.6 wr with jerry rice only just 180 degrees removed .

I agree with the contrarian.

I think Allen can be a good QB at the NFL level. But that's only if he's allowed to develop on the bench for a year or two before being tossed into the fray. While his arm is great, he wasn't helped by his WR's as has been mentioned. But it seems to me that he needs to work on his recognition of defensive schemes a bit before he's ready for prime time. He doesn't always see the field consistently, and that can lead to bad choices.

If he's allowed to work behind a solid vet (in the fashion of Mahomes working behind Smith) then I believe it will help him prepare to lead a team moving forward. Make him a starter from day one, and I have my doubts as to whether or not he has the tools to succeed out of the gate.

As a Jets fan trust me there’s nothing good about having Chad Pennington as your QB!
