Through 5 weeks, James Robinson still leads all non QB rookies in PPR fantasy points. CeeDee Lamb at number 2.

💯

Jacksonville was playing well early and it probably had a lot to do with no preseason. Teams were all fairly rusty the first few weeks, especially on defense.

This game wasn't proof that Robinson sucks, or anything other than the fact that Jacksonville isn't very good. Their defense is bottom 5 in the league and they don't have the offense to keep up with many teams consistently.

He's fourth among RBs in receiving yards pg and 13th in rush YPG. Not certain he can be scripted out.

Robinson's snap share by week:

Week 1: 27-20 W (68% share)
Week 2: 33-30 L (51% share) - Tennessee was winning 30-17 head into the 4th and came back
Week 3: 31-13 L (45% share)
Week 4: 33-25 L (76% share)
Week 5: 30-14 L (57% share)

So when Jacksonville is trailing bad, they're not playing Robinson as much. He's still produced, but it's definitely a clear drag to his outlook if they continue getting beat down.

When they're winning or close, he keeps playing.

He still looked decent yesterday, not sure what everyone is talking about.

Even the fumble, everyone is a calling it a wild cat pass attempt but I think the intent was to sell a pass and bait the corner into easing up at the LOS, which actually initially worked but the fullback laid one of the most pathetic block attempts I’ve ever seen, so being 4th down he tried to make a play once he saw the first down wasn’t achievable with the roll out to the right.

Even the fumble itself probably would have gone out of bounds, but Robinson actively bats it back into play because it’s 4th down. Don’t really recon that one is on him at all, seriously rewatch the full backs attempt to seal the edge if you want a laugh.

Yep, but it's interesting that he has continued to produce even when his overall snaps scale back. In those two blowouts, 3 catches on 4 targets for 18 yards week 2, 6 catches on 6 targets for 83 yards.

In fact, in terms of receiving usage, you can almost break his first 5 games into two categories-

Week 1 and 2- 1/1/28, 2/4/18
Week 3-5- 6/6/83, 4/4/32, 5/7/22

It's almost as if they became more comfortable with him as a receiving back after week 2 and began using him more that way. Target high in group 1 was the lowest of group 2.

Btw is Ryquell Armstead ok? Hasn’t he been on the Covid list for 6 weeks?

i saw a thing where a team spokeperson said he's out for the year. no official word on what the actual issue is though. i saw speculation that it's an opt out without opting out or that he had some heart problems as a covid side effect.

I cashed out on Robinson today (not the league in my signature). Ended up moving Robinson for Akers and a 2nd. My team isn't super competitive this year and I am hoping Akers is the better long term play.
Team:
QB = Matt Ryan, Cam Newton, Andy Dalton
RB = Todd Gurley, Dalvin Cook, Alvin Kamara, Kareem Hunt, James Robinson Lemical Perine
WR = Michael Thomas, Stefon Diggs, Mike Evans, JuJu Smith-Schuster, AJ Brown, CeeDee Lamb, N'Keal Harry, Sammy Watkins,
TE = OJ Howard, Mark Andrews, Ian Thomas, Eric Ebron

Solid haul, I would have aimed for someone other than Akers, but to get a mid 1st round rookie with high upside and a second for a WW UDFA is a nice return

Same. I essentially got Gibson for Robinson straight up in a league where I’m in a total rebuild. Kind of a neutral move for right now, but Gibson is someone who has more draft capital and I am higher on him long-term.

So far, yep. He's been fantasy productive off receiving, even when his rushing performance has been sub par.
