James Robinson
Re: James Robinson
Feel bad for the guy in my league who just gave up the 1.06 for him this week. But then I guess there's a reason he's rarely a playoff team.
Despite expecting a round 2-3 JR replacement, this wasn't my favorite pick in the 1st round for the Jags or for ETN.

No idea how I'm gonna get RB production this year at this point. I held onto him thinking there's no way the Jags would be so stupid as to spend premium draft capital on a RB after getting a diamond in the rough like this undrafted.
F*CK.
I didn't really discuss it on here (that I remember) but I definitely would have been in the "there's no way Jacksonville would be that stupid" camp. And I would have been dead wrong.
F*CK.
He should have waited. The Jags own a ton of picks in the top 100. RB can be found anywhere, you already have a starter but you can easily use a pick to make that RBBC.... I don't get it. Maybe they trade JRob?
Etienne is a primo RB. I have a feeling that JRob is done as a Jaguar at least by next year.
*sigh*
I don't know if JRob will be traded, I'm now expecting the worst case scenario, that he gets 8 touches a game for the next 3 years sitting behind Etienne.
Lesson learned: never underestimate the tenacity of stupidity.
One question I guess... drafted players get 4 year deals; how long are first contracts for undrafted guys?

Re: James Robinson
Well I was hoping that Jax wouldn't grab a RB with JRob being my RB3 on one of my teams now I'm just hoping that this running game morphs into something like Clevelands where both RBs can be relevant. I think both Etienne and JRob have taken a hit here, certainly Etienne less of a hit, but still not an ideal landing spot.

Bold prediction
Jaguars will be a top 5 in rushing team in 2021.
If anything this hurts Hyde. This will be one of the most valuable RB duos in the league for a couple years. And by valuable I mean in terms of ROI.

I'm just coming in to say wtf man lol. I know JRob could never play another snap in the NFL and he'd still have outperformed his fantasy career expectations, but god d*mn am I salty about this Etienne pick lol.
Just add another RB in the 4th or 5th. Don't go blowing your load on Etienne when you have a 1-15 team and RB is like literally the last thing you need to worry about after getting Lawrence. Fantasy aside it's just such a wasteful pick by the Jags from every angle.

Re: James Robinson
Yup I'm guessing ETN went from the 5th or 6th guy to probably 10th or 11th in most sf drafts. And jrob can maybe get snagged for a mid 2nd. At those prices I love both of themnThe Godwin Complex wrote: ↑Fri Apr 30, 2021 5:31 am Bold prediction

Re: James Robinson
This is such a huge ripoff for a guy like James Robinson. He played his heart out and feels like he SHOULD have kept the job.
Sucks for fantasy players because if he had been a 1st round pick he would probably be a 1st round startup value right now.
A_yeti(sp?) told me years ago when I was arguing for Thomas Rawls that professional organizations don't care about production as much as they should. It's not fair and it's illogical but it's the nature of the beast. He said he had personally seen so many guys that deserve to play(not just football but other sports as well) don't get the chance without the draft capital attached to them. Whether that's due to shallow and in the box thinking or maybe more so to managers realizing it would look like they don't know how to draft a player if the whole team is made up of UDFAs, the JRobs of the world are 95% of the time getting shafted. It's very unfair and appalling but it's the way it goes.
Maybe Godwin Complex's will be right and they will be a 1-2 punch, but I doubt it. DLF Mike has already stated ETN is as good as anyone since Barkley. I'm afraid it will be show over for JRob. Atleast for now. Maybe he can make a reappearance on a team like SD or HOU that isn't afraid to use a UDFA

Re: James Robinson
If you look at what I perceive Meyer is gonna do. Robinson will still play at factor. After Rashad Penny was drafted, Carson still played a ton in SEA. I think these situation are comparable. Def can see JAX being a top rushing team using ETN similar to how Kamara was used his first season in NO with Robinson taking the beating between the tackle like Ingram. Both RB were still fantasy relevant. I mean at the very least I hope that is what occurs. Thought I was a contender this season, but now after this I will be middle of the pack if he does become more of a back-up role player.

Re: James Robinson
Both of my personal big rules in dynasty proving to have some validity here
1. Dont trade for RBs between the end of the fantasy season and the NFL draft
2. Dont spend too much on UDFAs........ ever.
I used to do both of these early on and they burned me so bad all the time so i refuse to do either of them. If i see a UDFA Rb the best you will get from me is a third round pick. The people who had JRob should have cashed out, especially with the coaching change. 2nd round pick RBs arent safe under new coaches, what makes people think UDFAs will be? Get these guys for free on waivers, ride them out for the year, cash out.
