This is good advice, but remember there is the flip side too. Like you, last year I needed that one last piece for my team and tried to get Ingram from a rebuilding team, offered a 2nd, they demanded a first, I stood pat and lost in the semi's. I would have won that week with Ingram and I would have won the league too - I regret not sending the late first. However, I once did the opposite of this. When Jamaal Charles tore his ACL I was in win-now mode and traded him for Ryan Matthews. Charles went on to torture me for years after that.dlf_mikeh wrote: ↑Mon Sep 21, 2020 8:44 amI lost Zeke to a season-ending injury in 2017. I had a great roster (Bell/Conner, David Johnson, Fournette's rookie season, one of Tom Brady's elite season, etc). Nearing the playoffs, I turned down an offer of Todd Gurley because I'd be selling low. I faced a must-win game the final week of the regular season and I was a huge favorite.
Had I taken that offer, I would have won the league and the $1,000 prize that went with it. Instead I turned it down, lost the game, and won nothing. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do if that means winning the whole thing. I regret not making that deal all the time.
Don't not sell a guy simply because you shouldn't. Make whatever deals you gotta do if it means winning the league. You should hold Saquon for now because it's too early in the year to know where your team is heading, but if trading him later will help you win the league -- even at a slight loss -- I'd absolutely do it.
Nobody remembers who came in 2nd place.
I'm considering offering CEH for Barkley to a contender but I think I want something on top. I've considered CEH+2nd for Barkley+1st/or someone like Hollywood Brown but not sure I can pull the trigger on it. I kind of want an overpay of Barkley/1st/Brown for CEH and a couple of 2nds. For a contender I'm not sure how they will view that.Cameron Giles wrote: ↑Mon Sep 21, 2020 9:25 amIf I wasn't interested in winning this year, I would.SteveMaddensShoes wrote: ↑Mon Sep 21, 2020 8:52 amWould anyone sell CEH or Taylor for Barkley right now? I don't think anyone who owns Taylor or Edwards-Helaire is adding much, if anything for Saquon right now.
Agreed. I once say a stat that said that most games are won or lost by more than 15 points so missing a QB altogether hardly mattered. It was kind of an interesting stat though I don't know how accurate it really was. And I can't find it again. My point being that making a bad trade for the playoffs is often just bad process.thebeast wrote: ↑Mon Sep 21, 2020 9:37 amThis is good advice, but remember there is the flip side too.
