Non Contact is Usually Bad News.

Of course they will bring in someone for early down work if he is out. Cohen has a pretty defined role so doubt he bumps in value much if any. It could actually hurt if they bring in a Gus Edwards type who must be on the market.

Hopefully for his sake it is a hammy or groin and not knee.

He was carted off from the sidelines, I believe. Limped off the field under his own power, where they then carted him away. Apparently he screamed in pain. It's a groin injury. I think it could still be fairly serious. I wouldn't jump to the conclusion he'll be OK soon. People can require surgery on groin injuries. He went down without contact. That's not good.

Bad news for Montgomery and the Bears. I'm hoping it ends up being relatively minor. He did walk off the field on his own but obviously looked like he was in a good deal of pain. When I heard carted off, I assumed the worst. Still might be, but I feel carted off was a very strong way to describe it.

They badly need depth. I went and looked for a 3rd string guy... Nall and Pierce.

Even if it is a groin injury, those things usually linger for weeks/months, sometimes all season, and sometimes they require surgery. A non-contact groin injury? Oh boy...

This is a huge blow. I would expect a bump for Tarik if the severity is as bad as I anticipate, but only in the short term. He'd be an immediate sell high to the Monty owner as I wouldn't be shocked to see Freeman or someone get signed and brought in almost immediately.

This is all worst-case scenario though. If he's up and walking and "will recover", it'll just be a tough season for all Monty owners, but no real change in value for anyone else.

Don’t underestimate groin strains. There is no way to tape it to restrict movement and it can severely affect any lateral movement - both entering and ending a lateral move. Of course, with Montgomery that limitation may not affect his game...

Montgomery's dynasty value is plummeting if he's out for an extended period of time. I already expected Chicago to draft a RB in 2021. His value was tied primarily to his anticipated 2020 volume.
