Anyone else having this issue?

Postby CJRousseau » Tue Jul 07, 2020 10:01 am

My league mates (team one in sig) seem to be completely rigid in trading RBs away. I have been trying to flip one of my WRs or some picks for an RB for what seems like weeks now and am having no luck at all, it seems like any RB in the league is going to require an overpay to move. Here are some offers that have either been outright declined or have fallen apart during trade talks:

Jarvis Landry
For
Tarik Cohen and a second

Jarvis Landry
For
Darrell Henderson and a second

Tyler Boyd and a first
For
Kenyan Drake

and that's not all of them. Is this just my league or what?

This is pretty much the norm in most leagues, RBs tend to have the biggest impact on winning in fantasy football and are in relatively short supply in comparison to WRs. Just going to have to keep trying and find someone who will move them, and make sure to address the position during the draft.

I find it easier to trade for RB in season after some teams have decided to rebuild.

Yeah I’d say half my leagues are like this. Usually end up stacked everywhere but RB, and snag one here and there, and have a good leg up.

I’d agree RB scarcity makes em nice to build a championship squad, but there’s more than one way to do it
main league, half PPR, all TDs 6, -3 for INT
12 team. 2019 champ, 2020 runner up, ‘21 3rd
start 2SF, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 2WRT

QB: T Lawrence, K Cousins, R Wilson, Z Wilson
RB: K Walker, T Ettiene, JK Dobbins, D Gore, J Hasty, D Johnson, L Rountree
WR: JJ, AJB, A Cooper, Juju, C Kirk, J Dotson, N Westbrook-Ikhine, I McKenzie
TE. T Kelce, Pitts, Albert O, D Parham, J O’Shaunessy

1.03, 1.11, 2.02, 2.09
Extra 24 1st

Yep, have shifted a little in the draft to drafting a rb over a wr if I think they are on the same tier. in season in look at acquiring a older rb if I need one from a team that is looking for picks or prospects

You'll be glad Boyd and a first was declined IMO.

The 17 game seasons will bring WR scoring a bit closer to RB's IMO. Teams will need to go RBBC, even the ones with "bell cows", even more, to manage the workload of their backs over more games. An extra game is a big deal.

My first thoughts Dm are that you're overvaluing Jarvis Landry. Depending on the first rounder, you may be overvaluing Boyd.

You'll have to pay more for a decent RB. WRs are a dime a dozen compared to RBs that produce.
Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.

I think Boyd and a first is more than fair for Drake. I have Drake, but he's a soon to be 27 year old RB that has never been a lead back for a full NFL season.

If the Drake owner is close to a playoff team, I'd keep Drake. Boyd is easier to replace.

RB scarcity is a real thing in any start 2 RB league of 12 teams or more. Once you get above 12 teams, it really ramps up. It always seems challenging to get a RB using a WR. Playable WRs are easier to find than playable RBs too which is why people cling to them. Heck, look no further than rookie drafts. You can always get WRs in later rounds of a rookie draft (McLaurin, Dionte, Hardman types) whereas it's rare to land a starting RB at that point (usually handcuffs). RBs have dominated atop the draft most years because they are league winners.

I was recently able to move Metcalf/1.06 for Sanders/2.11. I feel good about it but it was the only traction I've gotten in any of my leagues in terms of acquiring a good young RB.

RB scarcity is a thing, but I’d snap accept Boyd and a 1st for Drake.

For me it would really depend on my team. I really like Boyd with Burrow potential, but if I am really thin at rb I may not do that.

Use high draft picks on RBs, keeping them is the hard part.
