Steve Sims JR

Postby joeya2001 » Tue Jun 16, 2020 7:08 am

Guy broke out the last few games of the season with Haskins, Hes getting some hype on twitter, might be a good chance to buy him.

Thoughts on him? I likes what I seen, he does have a case of the drops it seems but runs really great routes and can get open.

He definitely has some potential based on his talent. I have him in multiple spots as a flyer. I really have no faith in Haskins when I consider the receivers on that team. I have avoided mclaurin in any trade negotiations or startup drafts because I do not think Haskins has nfl level talent. Kyle Allen doesn't offer much upside either, but at least he did get DJ Moore a ton of catches last year. Maybe Allen could do the same for Sims?

I've grabbed him really late in a couple of startups this year. The WR room could be viewed as crowded (especially if Gibson has a Curtis Samuel type role), but there's room for someone to emerge opposite McLaurin. Sims is the cheapest of the bunch between Gibson, AGG, Harmon, and Sims.
The window is probably this year for any of those guys besides Gibson. The skins went pretty heavy after Amari Cooper, so a similar run at ARob, Juju, or Kupp next year wouldn't be surprising if no one claims the job.
Dynasty player since 2002.
I probably should have done something more productive with that time...

Have him in a few leagues, don't expect Haskins to be able to support 2 FF viable WR's, expect the position to be addressed next year. Decent stash, don't ewcpect much long term. Will flip him if he gains some value, UDFA under an old regime, he'll really have to blow people away to have a significant role in the future. One thing he does have gong for him to stay on the roster on game days, is he's a good returner.

He's absolutely worth a flyer. The Redskins offense is young and unproven all-around, so there's plenty of chances for a young player to step up and command targets like McLaurin did last year.

The skins offense is unproven. Sims is on a bunch of my radars. That said, I believe with nearly 100% certainty that Haskins is a complete bust. I expect Allen to be the qb at some point when Haskins channels his inner Nathan Peterman

For a flier of Sims level, I’m not considering the QB or WR depth chart at all, really. It’s possible he stays or gets lower in the pecking order for targets, and it’s possible Haskins is just bad and is still the QB there for a long time. But, it’s just as likely that the QB in Washington next year is someone else. And while is possible a big WR moves in next year, maybe? Maybe not?

What if Sims shows out, Harmon and whoever else looks okay, and Lawrence is throwing the ball next year? Never know.

Just sayin I evaluate end of bench guys like this without much thought to current, fluid situations.

He has great feet. His pro day numbers were underwhelming, to say the least. However, his tape shows a lot more quickness. I'm getting him wherever I can.

great athlete and playmaker... can he add weight and maintain the foot speed? He might never be more than a Dante Hall, which is useless for fantasy but 400 yards and 5 TD in ~8 games worth of snaps shows some potential. He's also not blocked by any means.

Oof, I disagree. I watched Haskins make throws I considered to be next level anticipatory throws in a tight window at Ohio State. It was so rare that I had to go back several years to find another such example. I think his short game is impressive. The deep ball is another story. What makes you disagree?

And to add to the topic, I've seen Sims get moved around probably more than any other player in all my leagues. His value is definitely climbing, and now this thread appears. I don't know if there was a recent tweet or news article somewhere touting his value, but something must have happened.

I don't disagree btw. Great value to be had with very little risk.

I think he is incredibly inaccurate. He thew for 58.3% last year and even that was a higher number than I expected. I didn't like what I saw coming out and I thought he had an expectedly weak rookie season.
