Way too Early 2021 Draft Thread
Re: Way too Early 2021 Draft Thread
I think he's already locked into top 15 and good shot at top 5, there's not much chance of doing any better than that in the same class as Lawrence and Fields plus a Generational LT prospect in Penei Sewell. He's far more likely to hurt his draft stock with an injury or lower than expected performance than he is to play so well that he can elevate his draft stock any more than it already is.

I guess we're just not going to agree on this. That's cool.bjd5211 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2020 5:35 pm I think he's already locked into top 15 and good shot at top 5, there's not much chance of doing any better than that in the same class as Lawrence and Fields plus a Generational LT prospect in Penei Sewell. So Trey Lance is going to play 1 game? Weird. I wonder if the other team is being told to flop....LOL

I'm still shocked that Trevor Lawrence (and anyone with a high draft stock) wants to play right now. There's no upside.

There would be for guys like Field and Lance, for their actual careers. Unfortunately they most likely won't get the opportunity. They are not polished, and more game action could, and would help them. Next year's class is a total mess. So glad I am hardly invested.Cameron Giles wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2020 4:42 pm I'm still shocked that Trevor Lawrence (and anyone with a high draft stock) wants to play right now. There's no upside.

Do these players that opt out stop going to school/class? Seems that would be the case right? They got a scholarship to play football, if they choose not to play, then I'd assume they aren't getting a free ride at that point.

Interesting. Even when they declare they aren't returning, prior to the school year and they aren't returning the next year. So do they actually show up? Probably not. I'd imagine underclassmen who aren't playing, won't bother attending class much (if they ever did).Dynasty DeLorean wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2020 8:16 pm... they keep their scholarships, it’s a pandemicFantasyFreak wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2020 7:21 pm Do these players that opt out stop going to school/class? Memphis RB Kenneth Gainwell opted out.

Not sure where he currently stacks up on draft boards and among RBs overall, but on PFF he's RB7 in the class right now and the only returning RB they had graded at 85+ as both a rusher and a receiver, and Todd McShay has him at RB5. So he's definitely someone to keep an eye on.
Football aside I can't blame him for opting out, he's lost 4 family members to Covid.

For what it's worth, I think it's a good bet that he's a better RB than Antonio Gibson.bjd5211 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 31, 2020 5:48 pm Memphis RB Kenneth Gainwell opted out.

He’ll probably get drafted to the Eagles to help retain their RBBC approach...with Boston Scott the other half.FantasyFreak wrote: ↑Tue Sep 01, 2020 8:30 amWell yeah, because he's a Running back.....
