Postby ravn88 » Thu May 21, 2020 9:28 am

Across a few leagues where im rebuilding and wondering who is the best young TE's.

In one league im going for TJ, but just got Goedert in a trade. What is the diffrence between them ?

Engram, HH, Andrews, TJ, Fant, Goedert, Hooper, J. Smith and B. Jarwin is a few that is 25 or under

Would add Ian Thomas, Gesicki, Henry and maybe Dissly, Everett, Sternberger, Herndon and Njoku. Are you looking for a ranking or like a write up for each guy?

Imo last year's class has several really interesting prospects, and I think at least a few will hit. TJ, Fant, Smith, and Sternberger were already mentioned. Josh Oliver, Dawson Knox, Kahale Warring, and Foster Moreau are all big and athletic as well.
Warring and Oliver are my favorite cheap stashes of the group.
Dynasty player since 2002.
I probably should have done something more productive with that time...

Andrews is clearly the #1 TE "25 and under". He's pretty much a consensus top 3 TE, and there are some arguing he's #1 overall or will be after this season.

my big 3 are Kittle, Kelce Ertz,

Ill give Andrews top 5, but I want to see another strong season. Hes to TD dependent for my liking.

That's fine, consensus doesn't mean unanimous, but Andrews is being drafted significantly higher than Ertz who is TE4 in ADP according Mizelle's data.

1 Kittle: 19th overall
2 Kelce: 32nd overall
3 Andrews: 49th overall
4 Ertz: 66th overall

Irv Smith is a guy I really like. Will have Rudolph taking targets this year but likely the number one next season. And the Vikings love to play those TEs. He seeems to be valued below Fant, so could be a steal.
Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.

Cant argue that, I just hes being over drafted. I get the excitement of wanting the top target in that offense but for my style hes to TD dependent for my likes.

Im not mad at anyone thinking otherwise.

He's not just TD dependent though, such as a guy like Eifert was a few years ago. Andrews led all TEs with a minimum of 50 receptions in yards per reception at 13.31, Waller was 2nd at 12.71 and Ertz was at 10.41 which wasn't even the best on his own team (Goedert 10.47). Andrews only had 62 fewer yards on the season than Ertz, despite having 24 fewer receptions. So he's a much better big play threat, which is also why he's able to score more TDs, because unlike Ertz he can score from outside of the Redzone, while also being able to score in the Redzone.

Add in the factors of age and not having another TE on the roster like Goedert, and Andrews is clearly above Ertz in my opinion.

I don’t get Henry or Hooper that high. Henry is talented but has to play with Tyrod and Trashbert.
Hooper has to share targets for the near future with OBJ, Jarvis and Hunt
I would rather have the entire tier below than either of them

My reasoning is...

Henry playing with tyrod isn't that big of a change for me. Tryod actually turned Clay into a usable piece for a few yrs, and he will heavily target TE if needed. Anthony Lynn has shown that he isn't TEphobic like some other coaches (BA), and will utilize them. The chargers schedule is the best in the league. So I don't see a drop off for HH.

Hooper is a bit of my own expectations. But these are my rankings so obvs they need to reflect my thoughts right. Anyways, I don't expect OBJ to be a Brown for much longer (maybe one yr tops imo - pure speculation). I also expect Hunt to gone within a yr, if not sooner, and possible dealt at the deadline etc. So that would just leave Jarvis (who will turn 29 next season), and Hooper as the main targets before next season in 2021. I like that situation enough to keep him ahead of the other guys.

I also see enough warts with the guys below to not jump them ahead of these two players. But like I said, these are simply my rankings, no need to agree lol. FF would be pretty lame if we all thought the same way.

Charles Clay was a very solid fantasy TE with Tyrod throwing him the ball, and Henry is far better than him.

Hooper did ok last year despite having to share targets with Julio and Calvin Ridley, and Kevin Stefanski's offense involves the TE a lot.
