I like it. I think he's got the ingredients, and glad to hear that he's willing to put in the work to put it all together.

Shortened version for everyone else, basically Harry is working round the clock to improve his releases and route running.

N'keal Harry // Value In This Year's Rookie Class

Postby Ericpritch5 » Wed May 13, 2020 1:52 pm

With rookie draft season upon us, curious how everyone sees Harry's value compared to this class? If you are a Harry owner what rookie pick would it take to flip him and capitalize on what value is left? Early second? Late first? Any 2nd round pick?

I have a share of him in one league, and put him OTB and have someone contemplating giving me 2.1 for him.

Thoughts?

I’m a believer in Harry but that said at this point is he really much different than Edwards or someone going mid-late 2nd. That’s where I’d place him. I’d much rather reset the clock with a guy like Pittman or something.

Exactly this for me. I have offered him to owners for as low as the 2.04, with not a single response. Guess I'll just hold.

I think he's basically a very late 1st in this class, after Jefferson and Raegor, but right in there with Pittman around 1.10-1.12. If you can buy him for a high 2nd, I think that's great value.

Given what will likely be a limited off-season, I wouldn’t be surprised if Harry outperformed the majority of these rookies. I have him ahead of the seniors, behind the first round juniors, and slightly ahead of Higgins.

I only have one share at the moment. Has anybody bought/sold him recently?

100%.

His value would probably be higher in a different draft class. The optics of trading a top 5 rookie pick for a 2nd after one year are bad; but when you consider the level of talent getting into the 2nd round (and often times as late as the early 3rd) it makes a lot more sense.

Bought him for OJ Howard after Brady news, but before Gronk news.

His value is shot, Pats just signed Marquis Lee. In all seriousness, maybe this moves him to big slot, and could help him, for the 2 games Lee plays.

He was sold for 1.12/2.08 in one of my leagues. That was just after Reagor/Ruggs went off the board and just before Higgins/Pittman went. Spot on with your valuation.

Interesting. I wouldn't begrudge anybody for preferring Higgins to Harry. They're both bigger bodied guys with questionable separation skills. I think Harry has more opportunity right now, has a more diverse skill set and could play as a big slot whenever Edelman moves on, and is in a less crowded situation where he already knows the offense. I expect Harry to outperform him this year and have a higher value going forward.

Higgins, on the other hand, hasn't yet had a disastrous rookie year like Harry's, so his range of outcomes includes better performances than what I'd expect from Harry. He's almost guaranteed to see a value bump if/when AJ Green moves on, even though that's a foregone conclusion right now.

If you're worried about Harry, you sell him now for the discount that's unfortunately been realized. Can't imagine many people are trading a 1st, so I'd believe an early/mid 2nd is more of where it's happening.

Say a Mims, Pittman, Higgins, Aiyuk, etc all have mediocre years...their value would still probably stay in the late 2nd or early early 3rd. However, if Harry falters again this year, his goes from a second to asking him as a dart-throw trade add-on.

Do I believe that Harry has equal or greater potential than Mims, Pittman, Higgins, etc? Absolutely but a red flag is a red flag.

tiering out players for an auction draft today which includes rookies and whats left after about 120 keepers.

Harry did not get kept, Ive got him at the bottom of the tier with the 5th-8th ish WRs in this class.

Harry was my 1.01 for a good bit last year, feels a bit premature to be dropping him so low, but.. /shrug.

A lot of Harry believers here, which surprises me. I'm a long-time Pats fan. I didn't like him before the draft, and he flew even further down my draft board when the Pats took him.

Right now, I'll take every rookie pick in the 2nd before Harry, easy.

Who knows, maybe I'm missing something, especially with Brady somehow gone and it being a whole new world for NE. But I'd be shocked if he ever becomes anything near worth his high NFL and rookie draft slot.
