So if Jones doesn't go (I assume he will), Ervin is the starter? So, 30 targets for Adams incoming?

It looks like the 49ers will play without their starting WRs Thursday night. Kendrick Bourne tested positive and Brandon Aiyuk was ruled to have close contact to him. Mullens will have a tough time finding dependable targets in this game.

So I guess I don't understand why the NFL moved games around early, ie Titans and Pats, but the Niners and GB are stuck with playng extremely short of players?

I would have both J Williams (if A Jones sits) and Aiyuk in for this game if not for the close contact Covid. Too late for the NFL to move the game back to Sunday due to the cases?

Pats game was moved because it was a QB that tested positive (Newton). Titans were moved because of the shear number of players that tested positive. Niners don't have Aiyuk and Bourne (deebo was already going to be out), GB doesn't have Williams and Dillon. Both Niners and Packers are capable of playing with the players they have. Depth is important not just in fantasy.

I'm also under the assumption that they don't want to lose another Thursday night game again.

Pats game was moved because it was a QB that tested positive (Newton).
OK, so why is Detroit playing as scheduled without their QB?

Stafford is going to play, wasn’t in question. He was a close contact and with 5 days of negative tests he’ll be eligible to play. The close contacts in GB and SF won’t have 5 days to get cleared since the game is on Thursday

1) Stafford will play unless he tests positive
2) pretty sure newton tested positive much later in the week

1. No he was just in close contact with someone who did test positive so he was put on the list.
2. Newton tested positive on a friday

So it looks like punishment is coming for the Saints, similar to what happened to Oakland. Both deserve it.

I want to circle back to Tennessee though. Does anyone know how they wriggled out of getting any punishment whatsoever? They were definitely the worst known offenders and it seemed like that story just got buried and eventually forgotten.

According to the NFL, they found it was more negligence than intent to break the rules. My guess, it was the first true Covid issue and they weren't sure how to punish the titans for a first offense. Now we've had teams on their second, third, and fourth violations despite multiple warnings across the league. It's easier for the NFL to punish these offenders now.
