A lot of the Raiders defense is on the COVID list due to being close contacts to a player who tested positive. They could play against KC this weekend if they have negative tests up until game day. But your defense not being able to practice before you play KC? Not good. Obviously doesn't change who you're starting on KC but they could have an easier game

Because the league doesn't want the results before the games. Kinda? Kinda.

They originally weren't testing on game days. They've now started doing that, but I believe the results still take long enough to come back that they aren't "checked" before the game itself. Don't ask me how that works for the night games.

If you accept the idea that gameday is the highest risk window to contracting COVID, then it makes a certain amount of sense. Coming out of your home bubble, travelling with the team via bus or flight or both, going to hotels, avoiding (limited) fans and stadium workers... it's when the risk factor is at it's highest, with the most amount of variables in play.

It only takes one person on the field to have it to spread it to other players lightning quick in a contact-sport. Frankly, it's incredible that they've kept the product on the field this well thus far.

So they’re hiding the results of a minimum of one player in games where players test positive immediately after? Covid tests can be provided with over 95% accuracy within an hour of providing them. It’s so incredibly reckless that the league’s stance on this is to not consider infection on Sunday pregame.

When and how test results are revealed has got to be slimy to some degree. My pregnant wife had her results back in about 40 minutes when we were in the hospital last week. And we are a couple of nobodies. My guess is they don’t look at results pregame because they don’t want to know results pregame.

That is unlikely to be the PCR test which is the gold standard. More than likely one of the more rapid tests that are more prone to error. Not going to guarantee that because I don't know what the specific situation was, but there is a difference between the two tests.

They aren't hiding it. They are likely delaying running the tests or ensuring that the test results aren't sent to the NFL just prior to the game, so more like sticking their own heads in the sand opposed to sticking the results in the sand. In no way do I think this is a good thing and will likely lead to spread. Perhaps, as cases continue to rise, we will see them change the protocols as we have seen the protocols progressively advance.

Ahh I think I just misread what you said as meaning they weren't sure of ANY positives. Most of them are close contact it seems besides the RB (for now)
