Gallup breakout?

Postby Pew Dogs » Sat Aug 17, 2019 7:50 am

Below is from Football Guys training camp report on the Cowboys. A couple of thoughts:

- The word “blistering” sticks out a bit as not a typical hype word but as a step above.
- Cooper’s history of getting dinged plus simply disappearing might put Gallup in the position of being the primary target in some games.
- To my untrained eye Gallup looked the part in the first preseason game.

So, is a Gallup breakout coming? Is it even possible that he passes Cooper?

From Football Guys “WR: Amari Cooper is also hoping for a new contract but opted to report to camp in a show of good faith. “I am not anxious about the contract,” Cooper said. “It’s not on my mind. I’m more interested in football.” He’s looked comfortable in his first training camp with the Cowboys and has an undeniable rapport with Dak Prescott. He missed practice late in the weak with a bruised heel, but it doesn’t appear serious. Randall Cobb and Michael Gallup have gotten steady work with the starters, and Gallup is off to a blistering start. Cobb, on the other hand, has been up and down; which is understandable as he acclimates to the new environment. The Cowboys have depth at most positions this year, and receiver is no different. Reggie Davis and Jalen Guyton have each had their moments, and the entire Dallas beat is abuzz about undrafted rookie Jon’Vea Johnson; he’s been making plays from rookie mini-camp onward.”

I'm buying Gallup at his price. He's one of the few guys that's still under the radar it seems.

Very well Played! 😁

I had a first round grade on Gallup last year. He is not A. Cooper but he is going to be a very solid weapon.

He can beat press coverage and excels at back shoulder routes.

He will get a lot of red zone looks with his skill set. He does have WR1 upside but not this year. Looks like a solid WR3 in fantasy.

He's a big time playmaker. Route running, speed, frame, consistency.....it's all there. I bought him for Corey Littleton and thought I got a steal.

I got asked about Landry for Gallup, D. Henderson, L. McCoy. It's a team in bad need of RB depth.

I initially said no but everything I read on Gallup is good news.

Id def say no but offering Gallup a peice of the puzzle, you need more than a rookie RB who imo is being wayyyyy overhyped and a guy who is at the end of his career

The owner also has Montgomery, Sanders, and Aaron Jones but not willing to part with any of those three sadly. It was Henderson/McCoy and no other RB options available.

Traded 3.02 (in 10 team league) for him in May. Seems like most people in my league thought I somewhat overpaid...

Michael Gallup owners...wyd?

Postby Prison_Mike » Wed Apr 29, 2020 5:04 am

1100 yds & 6 TDs in year two. I’m sure most were pretty excited for his future prior to the Lamb pick

Is he a strong hold or a sell?
His value seemed to be a mid-1st before the draft

At most it’s a late 1st (probably closer to early/mid 2nd now)

What are you doing with him?

I’m holding ... I think in 2020, Gallup still gets a similar target share as 2019 & Lamb takes Cobb’s target share. Both Gallup & Cooper have $0 cap exposure to Cowboys after the 2021 season ... so I doubt Gallup, Cooper & Lamb will be together more than 2 years.

See Sutton Thread.

Gallup equal to or a slightly better version of Sutton IMO but he is going to have a difficult time maintaining his PPg average.

The difference is he now has two players with stronger pedigrees to deal with for targets as opposed to one like Sutton.

Still good player but will most likely cap in the 13 point per game range with marginally better upside.

I own in him in a few leagues. Pretty obvious hold for me as he is good and his value took a hit. I imagine the market is really soft for him today.
