Thoughts on Noah Fant?

Postby Lssd2012 » Sun Apr 26, 2020 2:07 pm

Anyone worried about Fant after the Broncos invested so heavily into weapons, including Lock's former TE with high end draft capital?

Not necessarily just due to Albert O, but it's hard for me to imagine Noah Fant getting more targets this year vs. last year. He now has to compete against Melvin Gordon (got 60-90 targets per year w/ chargers), Jerry Jeudy, KJ Hamler, Albert O + any risk in that Sutton goes full Michael Thomas and commands even more targets.

Hard for me to see how Fant become a Kelce / Kittle, especially considering Lock isn't even proven. Fant falls to the Irv Smith Jr. range for me.

Don’t too much about Albert, but wasn’t happy to hear as far as my Fant share goes. Probably not going to change my value too much as he did show well as a rookie in a position that’s tough to learn. When I drafted him I was hoping he’d be my Kielce replacement in a 2-3 years, so I’ll hold unless I get a good offer

He definitely needs Lock to take a big step forward, or fall on his face so they replace him. With Sutton and Jeudy there, he could either flourish with mismatches or struggle for targets. Not so worried about Albert right now as I think he is raw. I am hoping Sutton and Jeudy can open up the middle for Fant.

Kelce and Kittle are outliers. Most TE's worth owning will not attain that level. Fant should blossom in two or three years. Until then his value will steadily decline.

Thoughts on Fant

What does everyone think about Fant? Does he have elite potential(top 3)? What is worth in picks or what has he been going for in leagues?

I like fant long term. Not sure who his starting QB will be next year so his situation could stay the same. With Sutton returning, he should be valued as a top 10 TE w/ upside. Haven’t seen a trade for him in any of my leagues but TEs tend to go cheap

My TE4 behind Kelce, Waller, Kittle.

Elite talent in a not so great situation.. but situations change on a dime; people avoiding him because of QB play and target competition are making a mistake, imo

I like Fant a lot. I’d put him on par with Hockenson and Andrews just behind the elite 3. I think he’s a more natural pass catcher than both of those guys but just needs a QB.

I really like Fant and have him at least in the top 5 for dynasty. It's kind of amazing what he has been able to put up with crap at QB and having injuries both years. Once he gets a legit QB, I think he takes off with his talent. I've heard rumors of possibly FitzMagic coming in, which I think would be great. Any above average QB would do him a lot of good.

Agree with the rest that it's basically
Kittle
Kelce
Waller
Hock/Fant/Andrews

I guess Pitts could be in that tier... Goedert and Gesicki are 2 other young TEs that have a lot of potential, but not quite as much as the above. I still like Henry and his landing spot could help a bit but he doesn't have quite the upside anymore

With Kelce 31 and Waller turning 29 at start of the season could Fant be top 3 in say 2-3 years from now? I think he has a realistic chance.

My money would be on Kittle, Hock, Fant, Andrews to be the top TEs at this rate. I guess we will see if Pitts can hold onto his predraft ADP of TE4
