Pff put out an interesting read on his fit in the offense. The worry about Pederson's RB usage is definitely a concern, but I wouldn't be surprised if his workload is relatively similar to the last two years with the Bears. 11-12 pts per game is probably about right for his projections

Agree on his worth.Valhalla wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2019 8:27 amHe's worth what probably cost the Eagles a trade of a 2020 6th for a 2021 5th/6th and a year's usage of Howard on a cheap contract.Ice wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2019 8:24 am Howard is a decent back and insurance policy for this year but in reality he doesn’t catch very well and has limited burst.
See him these days as a Blount type. He can get a team 3 yards and a few TD’s.
Not much fantasy value imo due to situation and consistency.
In fantasy...you may be right. The Eagles don't run a bell cow, and I don't think it's for lack of a bell cow. I think it's by design.
As to their design, you could be correct but I tend to think it's more out of necessity than design. If they had a true 3 down stud potential back like Dallas or the NYG they would design around that 3 down back.

Re: Jordan Howard to Philadelphia
Eagles fan and love it for the team, but personally I'm not seeing Howard take on a big fantasy role in Philly. But then again I've never been a long-term believer. Unless I was RB needy I wouldn't pay much for him. I'd rather just take my chances on my rookie picks hitting, until the late 2nd range or so.

Re: Jordan Howard to Philadelphia
Good football move, but I don't see Howard getting consistent enough work in philly to make me that interested in fantasy.
What kind of contract do people think Howard will get in FA next year? I'd be surprised if he pulls a comp pick for the eagles.

He has a lot to play for and prove this year before contract value can be projected. Right now it is obviously low.ColdZealDonkeyStrike wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2019 12:18 pm

As a Bears fan I hope this means we rarely see Cohen lined up in the backfield again. They need line him up in the slot or scheme him into space.
A rookie and Davis can be a nice combination in that offense.

Re: Jordan Howard to Philadelphia
Howard is excellent in an outside zone system. He’s been a plodder outside of that system though, so I dont foresee him being much more than a short yardage guy in Philly. I don’t know if Chicago will draft anyone, but they could easily bring in Martin or Ajayi or even someone like Yeldon on a cheap contract.

Someone traded Howard for Mike Williams. I was in disbelief that the guy traded a young up and coming WR for Howard who is destined for RBBC.ebsteelers wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2019 7:19 amwow I wish I could get 1.08 for himNanananananana wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2019 7:27 pmI think you should be happy you got declined, at what point in Pedersons reign has any RB been Consistently relevant? Re: Jordan Howard to Philadelphia
Howard does fine on screen passes, and he can move out into the flat, squat there and catch a short throw. Nagy's issue is that Howard can't do much more than that in the passing game, or at least not do it well. e.g. One shouldn't count on Howard being able to separate from a linebacker's coverage on a short route. Nagy seems to want all of his RBs to be proficient enough in both rushing and receiving that they're presence on the field doesn't restrict playcall selection.

Re: Jordan Howard to Philadelphia
Technically it could be argued that Williams is in a WRTEBC with Allen & Henry (ie his upside is maxed out with them there). Also Mike Williams is actually 1 month older than Jordan Howard. I am not saying I agree with the trade just that from a different perspective I can see why an owner would do that if they see Howard even as a 1 year RB2 while Williams ends up being a WR3/4. Maybe Howard does enough to impress Philly to resign him.gogobradyarm wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2019 4:22 pmSomeone traded Howard for Mike Williams. Some people argue lower end WRs are as easy to replace as RB2s *shrugs*.

What to do with Jordan Howard
With the Sanders pick, what do we do with Jordan Howard?
A) Sell him for anything you can get before he becomes a career backup?
B) Keep him - Maybe he's a solid depth piece as part of a committee backfield?
C) Hold & hope for a decent landing spot in 2020 (UFA)
D) Cry because you didn't sell him prior to the draft (me)
Personally, I'm thinking he could be an average depth piece for 2019 that probably outweighs the value of the 3rd round dart throw you can get for him at this point. Then maybe he can be flipped, banking on some Free Agency buzz?
Is that crazy? Just sell him now?

There's still some use for him in standard leagues. I highly doubt Sanders is going to be a high volume, workhorse back out the gate. Howard may be the preferred back in the redzone.
