They have one returning from opt out they plan to be one of the starters, and likely take one with their 1st round pick.Hottoddies wrote: ↑Tue Mar 16, 2021 3:26 pmThey still need to buy a couple of offensive tackles.StripesOfKC wrote: ↑Tue Mar 16, 2021 2:52 pmWe had 28.5 million in cap space coming in to today thanks to Thuney's deal being backloaded with a 4.5 million hit this year. One OT is definitely needed whether by draft or free agency (and maybe a backup swing tackle for depth) but the team seems really high on Lucas Niang at RT--drafted in the 3rd last year and opted out for Covid. I think he will have the inside track for starting thereHottoddies wrote: ↑Tue Mar 16, 2021 3:26 pmThey still need to buy a couple of offensive tackles.StripesOfKC wrote: ↑Tue Mar 16, 2021 2:52 pmWe had 28.5 million in cap space coming in to today thanks to Thuney's deal being backloaded with a 4.5 million hit this year. Thuney is a huge signing for CEH owners. I get guards are not as splashy as LT's but they are critical in the run game. Instant upgrade IMO.StripesOfKC wrote: ↑Tue Mar 16, 2021 2:52 pmWe had 28.5 million in cap space coming in to today thanks to Thuney's deal being backloaded with a 4.5 million hit this year. He is a very good player in the run game and in pass protection. Thought this one of the best signings in FA.

Re: Clyde Edwards-Helaire is your new 1.01
I’m interested to see what they do at RB. This was one of the worst backfields in the league, and they have basically nothing behind Edwards-Helaire. If they really just roll with Darrell Williams, CEH could be in for a monster opportunity share and a RB1 season.
I kind of expect them to add somebody, but they don’t have any cap space, so I’m not sure who they could add. I know they were interested in Fournette, but his market seems too hot for what they can afford. I haven’t heard a thing about Conner so far, and he could complement CEH well.
This would be a nice spot for Marlon Mack to take a one year deal to try to rehab some value.

Adrian Peterson? He wants to go somewhere to get a ring, and can still be effective as a between the tackles pounder on a team where defenses are always going to be on alert for the pass.
I think better move is probably adding another guy in the draft, will be cheap and potentially a longer term back up solution. Their backfield was mostly just CEH and Darrel anyway, with easily replacable production from Bell. They lost the SB because of their OL, not the RBs.

Yeah, I don’t think anybody implied that they lost the Super Bowl because the backfield was bad- they didn’t- but it’s still a pretty weak situation compared to the rest of the league.bjd5211 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 17, 2021 1:38 pm Adrian Peterson? Re: Clyde Edwards-Helaire is your new 1.01
Ya, was just saying they don't really have to add anyone specific or invest much more than the bare minimum behind CEH and Williams, so speculating on who it might be doesn't really matter much. If a good vet wants to come for the minimum to chase a ring they'll probably be happy to have him, but they'll be fine with whatever they can add to fill the roster spot.
Re: Clyde Edwards-Helaire is your new 1.01
Kyle Long signing doesn't hurt.
Re: Clyde Edwards-Helaire is your new 1.01
Darrel Williams isn't that bad. I think CEH & Williams well be a fine backfield. The Chiefs have done a nice job of replacing those huge losses in the o-line. You don't leave Mahomes vulnerable.

YPA, particularly with so few carries, isn't the only thing that matters.Bronco Billy wrote: ↑Wed Mar 17, 2021 6:26 pmYou’re kidding, right? 56 and 57 touches - not rushes - the past two years and a career 3.8 ypa on one of the most prolific offenses in the NFL.
That’s CEH in the backfield and nothing else.

I just don’t get the CEH support. He was raised based on landing spot and performed ok. KC will bring in others. He is not eliteBronco Billy wrote: ↑Wed Mar 17, 2021 6:26 pmYou’re kidding, right? 56 and 57 touches - not rushes - the past two years and a career 3.8 ypa on one of the most prolific offenses in the NFL.

Both of them had identical yards per attempt and yards per touch in 2020.Bronco Billy wrote: ↑Wed Mar 17, 2021 6:26 pmYou’re kidding, right? 56 and 57 touches - not rushes - the past two years and a career 3.8 ypa on one of the most prolific offenses in the NFL.

Either he’s better than we think or CEH is worse than we think
