nathanq42 wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2020 12:25 pm I'm starting to think some teams are transcending the obvious wins. Hear me out. Above average franchise QBs are worth a tonne, like it or not, Dalton back in his "prime" would be worth a fortune to a club like the Browns who have gone through literally dozens of QBs in the past 15-20 years.

I am of the mind that throwing a rookie into the fire is about the worst thing you can do. For every Rus there is a Kiezer. Think about the great QBs of the NFL and how many started as backups/didn't pop off until they had time to develop?
Brady
Brees
Mahomes
Lamar
Rodgers

So many of these garbage teams draft QBs and ruin them by forcing them to develop with garbage all around them. Maybe the Packers, Eagles, and Bills think they can develop QBs to sell to teams that just can't develop them on their own?

If I'm right it would be a very interesting strategy, Fromm on day 3 and hurts on day 2 aren't terrible investments if they can pull it off. I doubt the Packers are that smart and will have to pray they lucked into another all timer to carry their garbage franchise for the next decade. Without Favre and Rodgers they would be with the Browns imo. Love will have to replace Rodgers as their next franchise QB or really hit and then be sold for a ransom for that pick to be worth it.
Agree here. You can't knock Philly or Buffalo for taking Hurts and Fromm with later picks. I guess Hurts in the 2nd is debatable, but a 5th round pick is a dart throw anyway... The GB pick is just crazy imo. Especially when you factor in the teams win now window...

Huntley looks like he profiles as a returner. I would think that doesn't mean nearly as much as the Swift pick though

Peoples-Jones to CLE. Thought he would go earlier than 6th round based on athleticism alone. 6'2 212 lbs. 44.5 inch VERT, 139 inch Broad. Insane. Not much college production or hope for him but just one of the guys who stuck out at the combine to me

Meh. More worried about Boston Scott getting some run.

I know there aren't many RB holes to be filled really so this is more of a question for WR.

Are there any fairly open depth charts where a late round WR could slot in during their rookie year? Looking for that early opportunity

Philly needs another back. Scott they are obviously high on, though. Can't go into the season with just Sanders and Scott, though. Sanders was always going to be the 1A in the committee they run.

I was ragging on Philly's 2nd QB pick but I do wonder if backup QB was one of their biggest needs. Between Wentz getting injured a lot and their team bring fairly stacked Hurts might have been bpa there for them.

Terry McLaurin, Austin Ekeler, Miles Sanders came out winners IMO.

For sure. Sanders isn't going to be a 300 touch back and doesn't need to be. I was worried about an Akers or Dobbins pick in round 2 by the Eagles. I'm far less concerned with the FAs available to bring in.

Yeah no reason to worry now. I could see them bringing in Freeman maybe

After my Jones shares got kicked in the crotch I'm happy Sanders has come through unscathed so far.
