Wow, Penny to the Seahawks

Postby UATahoe » Thu Apr 26, 2018 8:13 pm

Never thought he would go this high! And over all the other non-Saquon backs.

As much as I liked the Tidley landing spot, I dislike this one just as much. Their Oline is woefully bad.

Yeah Guice seemed like a way better fit...

I kind of felt like Penny would go higher than most of the community...

He has a three down skill set and can make an impact but man the landing spot is brutal, we thought Barkley's o line was bad.

At least Pete Carroll is a really good coach... Hopefully they make it work.. but as penny was my target at 1.07 I'm likely going to trade out of 4&7 to try and get hunt or kamara

I am right there with you. I love Penny’s upside but man the landing spot just bums me out. Penny was my target at 1.06. Man it will be hard for me to pull the trigger now.

Eh, where were you hoping he'd go that was that much better?

Pretty much all the teams that really need RBs have bad offensive lines. He went to a team with minimal competition (which was certainly no given) and who has a lot more invested in him than we were expecting (seemed more likely to be a 3rd round pick than a 1st). He's now playing for a coach that seems to prefer having one back handle all the work in a game when he can find a guy that can handle it, who has never invested as much in a RB as he just did in Penny to find that guy.

Outside of superflex leagues he won’t be available past 1.05 provides Chubb/Guice don’t both go to outstanding landing spots

Not at all surprised, personally. I've had Penny as a big time sleeper from this class, to the point that I wouldn't even talk about him here hoping to keep him unhyped. Welp, so much for that.

Anyone averaging 7.5 ypc over 488 carries at the FBS level deserves a lot of attention. Even if it's at San Diego State, a statistical sample like that in Division I-A is very impressive.

This could immediately cause Penny to move into the 1.02-1.04 range in drafts.

Apparently Seattle was prepared to take Penny up at #18 and have reportedly been contacted by another club trying to acquire him. Just passing this along from a friend in Seattle so take that as a rumor...

Yeah that tidbit was straight from the Seahawks' GM. I wonder who the team that tried to trade for him was.

Well, they have invested a first round pick in him, so I don't see how this hurts his draft stock. He'll be given the length of the rookie deal to make a name for himself. Not the same if he was drafted by the Hawks in the 4th round.

His stock immediately goes up and he becomes a huge part of the plan being a first round pick. I'd say at this point Barkley and then Penny
