Joe Mixon Thread: 4 Year extension in Cincy

The OLine in Cincinnati is just bad. A couple early rookie picks will help, but this isn’t becoming the Colts line overnight.

I sold him this off season for what is now the 1.05 and 2.4, I think that’s really fair return in non-SuperFlex. I’ve been a huge Mixon guy for a while, but I had tons of RBs and figured the picks would help me build a real dynasty. If you’re competing now he’s an elite RB with a very good price right now. If you’re rebuilding he’s definitely a sell, as he’s turning 25 in a few months.

Mixon is a high risk RB.
41 starts over 4 years or 64 games. Not a player I would be targeting in any format at his price point.

Mixon gets way too many passes in fantasy football. He is a talented player but not elite.

A bit of perspective over 4 years. Mixon has played in 1 more game than the back we have all been bashing in another thread and that back has 28.3 more fantasy points over the same career.

Are you really trading Zeke for Leonard Fournette?

I get that is in jest but it is time to consider Mixon, while really talented has had a pretty spotty 4 year career to be trading away for studs or high draft picks.

Signed him for 4 years in salary / auction lg ourselves. Believe he has 3 very good to great years ahead in this offense. If we get stuck holding a 4th year it’s worth to have an elite rb @ bargain rates ( top 5 production @ 5-10 cost per position) Not many backs we’d want over him right now for the next couple of years for sure.

He's a great 'win now' target, but I feel like this is the peak and it's soon to be all downhill from here.

He's scored 10 TD's in the last 6 games and 3 total in the 5 before that. That's not really sustainable. Don't get me wrong - I have him as my leading RB on one team that is competing for a ship, but I'd be trying to move him due to age and recent performance. If you aren't going to be competing this or next year try to sell now, otherwise he'll be on the downhill of his career.

As a long suffering Joe Mixon apologist, I am holding onto him until the ride is over. I think he has a good shot at 2-3 more highly productive years with Burrow & Chase. On flip side, he could look at a few injury plagued season before he’s replaced.

I agree. Joe is 25, so 26, 27, and maybe 28 isn't that far out of the realm of possibility. I am going to explore moving him for a younger back plus this off season, but am glad to hold if I don't find the right deal.

Not sure, but his massive touch count including the playoffs last year worried me.

I won my league last year and am the strongest contender again this year (best record and most points scored), but I feel like now is the time to cash out on Mixon. Need to start 2 RB, I also have JT and KW3, but after that my depth drops off quickly (CPatt, Jamaal Williams, then scrubs). Mixon has volume but his stats beyond that are pretty poor.

Pro Football Focus' Mike Renner reports Joe Mixon is wanted on "aggravated menacing" charges in Cincinnati.

Local sports reporter Chris Renkel has confirmed Renner's report. Per Renkel, Mixon is accused of "pointing a gun at a woman in downtown Cincinnati." He allegedly said "you should be popped in the face" and "I should shoot you now." This would be an extremely serious situation for any player, but it is especially disturbing in Mixon's case after he was caught on camera punching a woman in college. This is a developing story that will be updated as it goes.

Kareem Hunt got cut and didn't play for half a year for kicking a woman.
