On the clock: Player swap?
I’m not sure how I feel about a player changing his pick during a slow draft after he submitted a first time?
What are your thoughts?
Should he have to take the 1st player?
Or is it normal to allow it so long as the following pick hasn’t made it in.
Thanks

If no other pick has made it's not that big of a deal. Did he give a reason for the change of heart?

Agreed. If the pick is made, that's it. Unless it was instantly acknowledged as an error, like clicking the wrong name. No go.

He gave no reason. I’m irritated personally as the commish and considering he switched to the guy I wanted LOL. But the rest of the group is not bothered so I’m sucking it up it looks like.

Re: On the clock: Player swap?
Are you at 1.02? Personally that makes it more difficult. However I don't like it. As a commish I would not allow it. If there's nothing in the Bylaws, I think you need to make him keep the player he picked, as it sets a bad precedent. What if the guy at 1.02 had made a trade based on that pick after he chose, for instance? IDK. I don't like it. He's had the 1.01 for how long? He should have known and been fine with his decision before he made the pick.Belichickians wrote: ↑Wed Apr 15, 2020 4:50 pm He gave no reason. Re: On the clock: Player swap?
I'm with you, I wouldn't be happy about it and don't think it should be allowed unless it was an obvious mistake of some kind and immediately addressed.

Re: On the clock: Player swap?
How long did it take before the swap? Seconds? Minutes?
This would all be avoided if you had pre-drafted. Then you would have immediately been given your guy.

Re: On the clock: Player swap?
Yeah, this. If you're the odd man out and you also happen to be next in the draft, you're gonna be looked down upon. No sense in making a big deal out of this.RB6 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 15, 2020 4:57 pmJust do it then. Good faith.Belichickians wrote: ↑Wed Apr 15, 2020 4:50 pm He gave no reason. And by the sounds of it, we don't have all the info. If we knew what was said between the owner and the commish, we'd be able to create a better opinion. If anything, the commish owes the league an explanation.

Re: On the clock: Player swap?
I'd have no issue letting someone change if it's an offline draft or whatever. Reset the clock for the next person though either way... Wouldn't it to become a regular thing though and if this was the 1.01 then that's even weirder.
More I think about it though, I don't like it. It's the same thing with a trade regret pretty much and no one overturns those. That does have a more direct impact on another team than this though

Re: On the clock: Player swap?
Normally I’m less of a hardass about this kinda thing compared to consensus in this forum, but as a commish I would absolutely not allow a pick change, unless it was instantly stated that it was an error. Changed mind? Too bad.
I do get the argument of not making a big deal here, especially since it’s your pick and your guy, but that’s a can of worms too. You might be creating a big deal later when someone wants to change their mind. I just don’t like it.

Re: On the clock: Player swap?
Once you hit submit, your pick is made final. If you weren’t sure, don’t hit the button.
If you want to let it slide here, fine, but I’d make it clear from here on out, your pick is official when the submit button is hit. No changes. Avoid the precedent being set that it’s acceptable behavior. Too much risk otherwise.
