Odell Beckham, Jr

Postby Typhus » Mon Apr 28, 2014 1:45 am

The 1.01 and 1.02 at this point seem to be already assigned to Watkins and Evans, and then theres the 1.03 and what to do.

Beckham seems to be the early candidate, but the more I study this kid the more I start to wonder if he should be the third player taken.

Yes, the NFL draft will shore up a lot of the questions, but we are talking pre draft prep here, so what Ive been seeing and reading on OBJ is that his actual playing speed is slower than his combine 40 where he ran a nice 4.43.

At his limited size of 5'11", and 198lbs, without top end speed with the pads on, Im starting to second guess a 1.03 status at this point.

Im seeing a slower version of Desean Jackson here.

more mike wallace than desean jackson is what I see
although he seems to be a more than just a 9 route or wr screen guy ... I saw plenty of drops in the limited tape I watched
but he looks pretty explosive

Marqise Lee would be the pick here. Everyone isn't as high on him right now but if he had a better QB and was healthy last season, he would be the consensus #1 in this draft. If he goes to a favorable situation I think this is your safest bet.

I don't have a pick high enough but he is my easy #3. I love the kid.

Tremendous route runner and yac ability, can go vertical, great hands(way better than Lee), and can contribute in the return game.

I see a Kendall Wright-Percy Harvin hybrid.

Honestly, if Kelvin Benjamin goes to the Panthers, for example, in the first round I think he would be my 1.3

I just can't see Benjamin as that early of a pick talent wise. He'd go to a good situation for sure but apparently he has a ton of problems at the line of scrimmage. I was listening to something the other day that said he often lined up 4 yards behind the line of scrimmage because he couldn't handle jams well. NFL corners would eat that up. Good jump ball ability tho.

I love OBJ's talent and upside but I'm terrified of him going to the Jets. Like, literally losing sleep over worrying about him on that awful team. The Jets haven't drafted a notable fantasy player since Santana Moss which was 13 years ago!!! (unless you want to count Shonn Greene, but he never lived up to his rookie hype IMO). Beckahm is my current #3 but if he ends up in New York I'm probably going to have to do some serious reconsideration. I hate that team.

I don't know how you can watch Beckham play and think he's slower than his 40, he's electric. He reminds me of Cobb, but with the ability to make insane catches.

Yes post draft should provide some clarity but based on talent alone I'm in the OBJ camp(see article below).

Only RB I see making it up that high is Mason or the RB that lands in Tennessee.

^ Side note but everyone seems to love putting Rex on the hot seat. Maybe it's the media's fault.

I really don't think he is. NY Jets will be better, go 8-8 or 9-7, miss the playoffs, and Rex will be back.

That's where I'm at. All the metrics guys like everybody else. I'm just a guy... I like Beckham.
