I agree too with the OP. In the league I have him, I paid up to get OBJ and Hopkins as my 1 and 2. Got my man crush in Josh Gordon to be my WR3 but with his history I thought it wise to have a guy like Cupp be my WR3 just in case injury or falling off the wagon occurs. He's the perfect flex for bye weeks. I wouldn't say he's the glue of my roster, but I see myself using him more as a duct tape. It's cheap, and it can fix lots of things.

I'm bullish on Kupp as well, though certainly the Rams are a bit of a blank slate with Cooks moving forward.

I do get the sense that now might be a good time to buy Kupp, though. I hear a lot of chatter from league mates and on other boards that because of Kupp's age and perceived polish coming out of college, he doesn't have a lot of room for growth in the NFL. This strikes me as one of those non-football reasons, which I think are opportunities to exploit.

New train of thought = enter/return key

If it wasn't for woods or cooks I'd probably fork over for him but I think they all eat into each other way too much. And I really like higbee and Everett.

I sold Marlon Mack for Cooper Kupp a couple months ago. Some may say it's an overpay because Mack could explode this year but I have Devonta/Cook/Mixon already ahead of him in a league we only start 2RBs.

Also, Kupp has already shown he can play well in the NFL and Mack is mostly hype right now.

I would not be surprised if last year ends up being his career year. The offense runs through Gurley, Goff is not that great imo, they just paid Cooks and they still have Woods.

If I could get him for a 2nd I would, but he is going for a 1st everywhere I see. I would not be comfortable with him as an every week starter, I see him as a mid-WR3/WR4/Flex type.

Piling on, I'm not going to pay a 1st for an old slow possession receiver surrounded by 4-6 higher upside athletic talents who are all also good football players. I'd rather buy DJ Moore for upside, pay more to try and catch Sammy Watkins (same age) before he takes off again this year, or take Woods (1 year older only!) for less with his elite efficiency from last year in the same role.

I liked Josh Reynolds' athletic upside better coming out as well and knew he had to develop over 2-3 seasons, and while Kupp had an excellent rookie year, I just don't see him having any more athleticism to unlock as he's already maxed out, and he's very technically polished (he's 25, so he should be), so I don't see him getting better in that regard either. Agree with Phaded.

Kupp is going to be one of those invaluable guys eventually. I just have a feeling

very punny - you are a regular barrel of laughs - Kupp is half full for some half empty for others

- many of the best receivers in fantasy and real life are possession-receivers

- age 25 is rarely the peak year for a good WR's career
- the ceiling on technique and craft mastery is cavernous and Kupp is nowhere close to reaching it as of 2017
- Antonio Brown and Nuk Hopkins, just to name two, have comparable athletic testing numbers to Cooper Kupp -- so explain why these two didn't max out as 65-850-5 type WR3s and instead have become two of the best WRs on the planet

I agree, Kupp is not a super talented WR, but he is awfully good. The knock on Kupp last year was can a WR with his skillset transition from a small school to the NFL. Well he completely debunked all those concerns. It's a bit much to say that a rookie WR coming from a small school has already hit his peak. And now in future years he will be less good.

I agree, I might take DJ Moore over Kupp, butt would you take Sutton over Kupp? Sutton is a late first early second rookie pick and he profiles as a possession WR. Not sure why I'd pick Sutton over Kupp.

So Kupp value lies around there, mid to late first I'd say.

Regarding Cooks, he is good no doubt, but Goff has not proven he can support that type of WR, whereas a short to mid range WR, Goff seems to have excelled at getting that type of WR plenty of targets.

Regarding Josh Reynolds, I liked him too, but Cooks completely kills his value, they are the same type of WR. Reynolds offers no threat to Kupp.
