Deep Bench Stashes - 2020 time

Postby rock-hammerson » Wed Dec 23, 2015 7:13 pm

For those not in the playoffs, who do you think they should be targeting on waivers to stash for next season? Please go as deep as possible (that's what she said) when it comes to pick ups. I't talking guys like Dezmond Lewis and Dreamius Smith.

I just picked up Erik Swope. I think he's still on IND practice squad. Long shot I guess but Fleener & Allen are both FA.

Deep stashes/sleepers in large league.

Postby slaughterrt » Thu Oct 13, 2016 7:01 pm

For team in signature:

16 teams...31 player roster limit...1/2 ppr...superflex...IDP...

Most recognizable named players are already rostered. Roughly the top 50 or so 2016 rookies are rostered as well. Large league and fairly deep rosters make the WW pretty bare.

Who are some of those deep deep sleepers that you guys think may have some value in the future. I'm looking for end of the roster type guys that might be available. Offensive and defensive players.

Available names will vary league to league, but some names that come to mind for me:

QB: Brett Hundley
QB: AJ McCarron
RB: DJ Foster
RB: Malcom Brown (may need a change in scenery or a few injuries ahead of him, but he's somewhat of a Jonathan Williams/Isaiah Crowell-lite type of talent)
WR: Paul Richardson (good talent who has been out of sight out of mind due to injury/bad short-term situation)
WR: Devin Smith (good talent who has been out of sight out of mind due to injury/bad short-term situation)
WR: Tyreek Hill
TE: Niles Paul (was actually ahead of Jordan Reed on the depth chart last year before he got hurt, and Reed just had another concussion)
TE: Darren Waller (former raw WR with great measurables turned TE)

Im guessing some of these guys aren't on the WW in a 16x30 team league, but can probably be acquired for just as cheap.

Crazy how this only got one response...

QB: Jacoby Brisset (he'll be the man behind Brady once Grap leaves via Free Agency) - HOLD HIM
QB: Garrett Grayson, Bryce Petty
RB: Terrell Watson (don't stop believing)
RB: Benny Cunningham (talented runner that will also be a FA at the end of 2016)
WR: Ricardo Louis (4th round pick on depleted Browns team)
WR: Leonte Carroo (likely rostered, but in a crowded MIA WR corps. Good buy low target if already rostered)
WR: JJ Nelson (burner), Demarcus Robinson, Kamar Aiken
TE: Jace Amaro, CJ F.

DB: Trae Waynes, Xavien Howard, *Miles Killebrew (ridiculously hard-hitter - watch his highlights)
LB: Jaylon Smith, De'Vondre Campbell
DL: Mario Edwards, Randy Gregory, Kerry Hyder

Let me loudly echo the B. Hundley recommendation. He is the clear preferred back-up to Rodgers, something that the coaches haven't felt comfortable with until Hundley. That says something there. An injury makes him a viable #2 QB (or better) right away. He will definitely get his shot somewhere. The downside is that it'll take a couple of years of patience. But, in a deep league, that's no problem.

I think most of us would gladly give advice but these sorts of open ended questions can be pretty tricky to respond to. Maybe if the OP could post a handful of guys at each position, and ask opinions? I think that would generate more intelligent feedback.

And I apologize if I'm coming across like a jerk, I truly do want to help! Just pointing out what may help generate the most relevant advice.

Of the free agent list that you provided, one name jumps out, and two have intrigue.

Jump out: Jaron Brown. He has shown flashes of play-making ability and has the opportunity next year to get on the field a lot more with a Floyd departure via free agency.

Intrigue: Burton and Pruitt.

Deep sleepers???

Postby shaggz_ » Wed Nov 01, 2017 12:53 am

I have Watson and fuller on my practice squad, and think it’s about time I took them out lol. Anyways I’m looking for some deep sleepers to add to my PS. They have to have at least 3 years minimum playing in the NFL. It’s a 12 man league ... 10 man starting , 10 man bench and 4 man PS if that helps with how deep of a league it is lol. Thanks in advance

I would drop Matt Jones and add three players...but agree with above that we probably need a list. There are a lot of rookie TE's that may not be on rosters in your league (I know you have one already, but, I would probably look there for guys like Everett, Shaheen, Butt...even Rico Geathers). RB/WR-wise its too much of a stab in the dark without a list.
