Duke Johnson

Based on game tape alone he is easily in my top 5 running backs. How serious are the concussions though? Those kind of injuries tend to be problematic long term, especially for running backs. Does he have any other injuries of note?

He's a bit small (which won't do any favors for his possible health issues), doesn't quite excel running inside, and his lack of competitive motivation in pass-protection will be a much bigger issue in the NFL. These items taken together have me worried on a fantasy-level that he'll be a long-term complimentary RB as a pro, not a featured or clear lead-runner.

But if he gets drafted to the right situation and blocking scheme, he could be great, sure. He has plenty of pros to go with those above cons, I'm just not mentioning them because I assume you already know them all.

As for other injuries, he broke his right ankle in 2013, and supposedly has a history of migraines, prompting one to wonder how careful Miami's trainers were in checking him for concussions.

I think long term he may be one of the best RB's in this draft.

Don't draft him. Tell your friends not to draft him. He's small, slow and always banged up. Ignore any nagging thoughts about how he kills tacklers at the second level, or how talent might not always be measurable with a stop watch or a scale. Let Duke be...

In fact, I think it best if you delete this post, so as not to make people waste their time thinking of this "Duke Johnson" guy.

Trying to do my due diligence. My issues are not with size or talent.

Well, as to your question on concussions, ask Jahvid Best what that can do to a career. Worst case scenario he's done with football later this year.

I think we need to keep this thread up. That way people can come here and see that Duke is a Terrible prospect that nobody should draft, ever. It is only right to warn unwitting souls about the terrible regret they will feel at drafting Duke Johnson.

I'm adding this one so that Puke Johnson returns search results, too.

Why bother discussing him? He just doesn't do anything well. He's not even in the class of a Buck Allen.

Duke Johnson... the future?

So, plenty of us are thinking it - Duke's doomed because he's a Brown.

But has anyone seen him at camp before the injury? Think he's good enough to be take over the backfield someday? What's someday - this year or in a few years?

I'm trying to figure out how long I should hold him, wondering what his ceiling is like - even in that hideous situation.

Wondering if anyone's still high on him. Duke believers... do you exist? ;)

I'm a believer, especially in PPR leagues. Playing on a better team wouldn't hurt, but Browns should be passing quite a bit when they fall behind, which should benefit Duke the most.

I haven't drafted yet, but he's someone I'm targeting. Not sure why you're trying to figure out how long you should hold onto him, he hasn't even played a game. Why not see what you have first?

Well, I had no plans to take him but I figured he was the best guy there out of the remaining giggles and fumes so I picked him up.

Not sure what to make of Duke except that I hope the Browns don't destroy his career.

Is Cleveland that bad? I mean, Trent Richardson managed a decent fantasy season there.

If he doesn't shine within 3 years, history suggests he probably won't.
