DJ Moore, WR, Carolina: Worried about Robby Anderson?

Postby Pullo Vision » Fri Apr 27, 2018 6:03 pm

There's been various mentions of Moore and his landing spot in Carolina In the draft thread, but makes sense to put the discussion in one thread.

What do you think? Big fan here. New GM scrapped last GM's plan of two tall WRs, said he wants two starters with different, complementary skill sets. Think Moore has a great shot to start and be usable in fantasy.

Not a big fan tbh. Funchess, Mccaffrey, Olsen will all command about 100 targets. Almost impossible to see him become fantasy viable until Olsen retires.

He is instantly at least their WR2 and people don’t like the landing spot? Where would he get more opportunity? Also Funchess isn’t exactly established as a number 1. I like Moore a lot in Carolina

He's their X(Funch). It doesn't matter, they aren't fighting for the same spot on the field. I personally don't love the spot. Atlanta would have been much better for me. I wish he and Ridley could flip spots. I like Moore more but like Ridley's landing spot better.

At least. Also sprinkle in Samuel coming back from injury.

Not a fan of the spot. Was hoping for GB or Dal.

If you believe in his talent, why wouldn’t you expect him to capture the WR1 role? He has more draft than Funchess & Samuel for that matter. This is Olsen’s final year, so that will free up targets. As a Cowboys fan, I wish he went there, but this isn’t a bad spot. Better than Jax & Baltimore which were frequently mocked.

Love the landing spot, the NFL-fit, and the R1 capital investment. I think he'll be hands-down better than Funch (who I like as well) within 18 months. Moore needed some time in the oven no matter where he was drafted, and this team can afford him that.

In terms of strict fantasy upside, I understand the concerns over targets. I think Cam will learn to love throwing to him because Moore will make good things happen with the space the other options create for him to operate. That just might happen in 2019 more so than 2018. I expect an efficient, albeit low-target, rookie year with a potential sonic boom in 2019 when things really start to click.

Might not draft him much this year, but expect to be aggressively pursuing him on the trade market at the deadline and this time next year.

I like Moore as a talent.

I feel like his ceiling will be held down a bit with Cam being the one throwing him the ball.
6'0" is "short" for a Cam target.

He's the type of guy I would not draft high this year and look to buy next off-season when he disappoints in his rookie year.

Steve Smith was 5'9". Seems catch radius, not actual height, is the factor.

Moore to Carolina is a great landing spot. His catch radius should make up for a lot of Cam's accuracy issues. I'm betting he comes in this year and produces at a WR2 level.

Steve Smith played with Cam for a couple years only and had made his name well before he came around. Don't get confused.
