I wouldn't make that statement just yet. They may still draft someone. I would.

I agree I think they draft someone. But I don't think they have to spend as high of capital as they would have. Do like the opportunity in Atlanta. Should still be a strong offense. Will be interesting to see what the terms of the contract are and to see if he could be franchised afterwards.

And the rams drafted Henderson in the 3rd last year. It doesn’t really change much. There will be plenty of opportunity in Atlanta for Gurley, as long as he can capitalize on it. He’s on a 1 year deal, so there will be a green light for potentially heavy usage. More opportunity than at least Miami (Howard) , Buffalo (Singletary), and Tampa (RoJo), so it’s the best spot he could’ve landed in opportunity wise.

It’s clear this is structured as a prove it deal for Gurley. He has all the opportunity in one of few vacant backfield’s, has familiarity with the location, and is in what could be a high powered offense next year. Julio, Ridley, Gurley gonna put up a whole lotta fantasy points 🔥💯

as much as i hated seeing gurley leave the rams the upside is i traded for henderson last year around mid season in a 24 team league.

all it cost me was a 4th round pick. winning.

He's going to a team that's been 24th in run blocking the past two seasons. Good pass offense, but even then he may not be able to handle that workload consistently.

This doesn't feel like a great landing spot. Possibly even a downgrade from the Rams line and scheme

That's an upgrade from the 31st ranked o-line in LAR last year. Plus atlanta has always utilized checkdowns to RBs. Last season LAR didn't do that as much. I think its certainly not a downgrade from the rams we saw last year. More importantly there other RBs on the Atlanta roster aren't as good as those on the LAR.

The Rams run blocking was better than the Falcons last season...

Atlanta's run game fell off after Shanahan left.

My Gurley for DJ and Henderson trade you weren't a fan of late last year is looking a lot better now, eh?
Is it?
Yep. Considering the situations currently, value wise, I have two RB's at the top of depth charts to an unemployed RB. Come on, just having some fun with ya.
I think Gurley in Atlanta > DJ in Houston. Henderson is the unknown. Hopefully all 3 kill it and wE bOtH lOoK sMaRt

The Rams run blocking was better than the Falcons last season...

Atlanta's run game fell off after Shanahan left.
The Falcons made a strong effort to rebuild their line last year by spending something like 70+ million, and solidifying through through 2 1st round draft picks. Injuries messed their plan up. The Falcons 1st round oline draft pick (14th overall) broke his foot week 1 and returned week 14. Carpenter had injuries throughout the season, and finished on IR. Jake Matthews is very good still. Kaleb McGary has a rough rookie year, but that is understandable. We can’t be certain what the line will look like next year, but it has been invested in significantly, and has the right talent. Most probably Falcons will look to add at Center this draft as well.

Regardless, out of the remaining teams left this was the best landing spot because of pure opportunity with a large vacancy of touches, while having potential to be a high scoring offense.

You’re looking at clear RBBC on the bills, Bucs, or Miami, so that’s why Atlanta made sense for Gurley on a 1 year prove it deal.

I have to agree with the above, context always needs to be taken into account when projecting O-line play from one year to the next. Remember the Rams o-line from two years ago? Completely different story last year, and the opposite turnaround can also happen. Not saying ATL will have a top 5 o-line, but I'm willing to wager they will be significantly better than last year. I think this is the ideal landing spot for Gurley based on total offensive firepower, competition, and potentially better oline play.

I still think ATL is the best spot Gurley could have landed. I don't think ATL will under utilize him like the Rams did last year. He is only on a one year dear, I think ATL wants to see what Gurley has left and how much his knee can take. I think his numbers, barring injury, will be much better this year.
