Rookie fever: They zig you... zag?
Rookie fever: They zig you... zag?
We all get rookie fever, but this year is probably the most anticipated rookie class since I started dynasty. I lost in the finals last year and have a loaded roster but made a trade mid season that scored me 1.04. As much as I’ll love my options at 1.04 I think I could get the mother load trading back. The reason I’m considering doing this is because I think it would benefit me to trade for a handful of 2nds to improve my IDP players, and 2021 1st(s) to remain young/cheap for years (IDP/contract league). That being said, is anyone considering trading out of the top 6ish picks? If so, what are you looking for in return? Probably better to talk about this in 20/21 pick equivalent.

Re: Rookie fever: They dig you... zag?
I luckily got 1.01 in the lottery. I have a few teams with multiple firsts (2, 4, 9) (3, 5, 10). For those picks I would trade 1.01 for 1.02, 1.09 and I would trade 1.01 for (1.03, 1.05, 1.10).ckrumm24 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 5:23 pm We all get rookie fever, but this year is probably the most anticipated rookie class since I started dynasty. The first one seems reasonable for someone to pay to move up if they really like someone at 1.01. The second one is asking a lot, but I have a clear top 2 and moving to 3 would be a big drop in my rankings right now.

I’m more curious if the scenario was if the picks you were getting couldn’t be in the top 5 this year (can include 2021 randoms)? what would it take to move off the 1.1? Let’s pretend we don’t know landing spots.smbkrypt24 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 5:29 pmI luckily got 1.01 in the lottery. I have a few teams with multiple firsts (2, 4, 9) (3, 5, 10). Between Zeke’s lack of receptions age + off the field issues; I’d rather have Talyor/Swift/Dobbins + Lamb/Jeudy than Zeke regardless of where they go. If CEH, Shenault, Reagor land in a good spot that just adds to the available options.

Re: Rookie fever: They zig you... zag?
Given current events, think its on poor taste to casually throw around the word "fever".
Re: Rookie fever: They dig you... zag?
Lack of receptions? He had 54 last year and 77 the year prior. He’s no McCaffrey but he’s a bell-cow getting 300 carries and about 4 receptions a game. That’s a decent receiving floor.IZigUZag wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 10:28 pmIs that really rookie fever?Johnny B. As for that trade. No guarantee the third RB is half of what Zeke is. Both prospects would have to hit in a major way or Zeke would have to have significant off the field problems.

Re: Rookie fever: They dig you... zag?
Agree in a year's time this could easily be seen as a great trade on the picks side. There's always that period where a trade might look lopsided but ends up being great for the person who has taken a leap with the picks.IZigUZag wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 10:28 pmIs that really rookie fever?Johnny B. Re: Rookie fever: They zig you... zag?
idk, in my opinion that's rookie fever... you have no idea where these rookies could land, and on top of it all they could easily bust. give me the proven top 3 talent for picks any day. Considering my team, I'm very deep at wr and didnt need 4 rookie picks; I needed another stud. based off every calculator and chart out there it was a bargain price
Stacking Zeke with Barkely and Mixon will be fun this year. Looking to win now.

Re: Rookie fever: They zig you... zag?
X2 gimme last years rb3 who’s still just 25 and is on the same team with a lot of the same pieces around him over the third and sixth best rookies in this class. Sure in three years this might look bad for Zeke but in three years Zeke should give you three great shots at a titleJohnny B. Re: Rookie fever: They dig you... zag?
He had 54 receptions which was good for 9th in the league among all RBs, after having 77 in 2018, on top of being the 4th leading rusher in the league. Zeke’s "lack" of receptions is not remotely an isssue, and he's going to continue to be a fixture in the top 5 of RB scoring for several more years.IZigUZag wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 10:28 pmIs that really rookie fever?Johnny B. Re: Rookie fever: They zig you... zag?
The inclusion of the 2021 2nd implies they overpaid to me. People have ignored it in the discussion, but it’s not worthless.
Trading back will depend on your market. Two shots can often be better than one, noting we don’t know which particular shots those are yet.

As to the pick, your best bet maybe trying a multiple slide down approach. Talk to your league, see who’s targeting what. Then keep moving back. As an excercise, something like-
Move back from 1.05 to 1.09-1.10and add a future 1st
Move back from 1.09 to 1.12 and add an early 2nd, 2.03ish
Move the 1.12 for for a future 1st and 2nd
If you can pull something like this off, you could net around 2.03, 2 2021 1sts, and 2021 2nd for the 1.05. That’s more than you can get just trading it once probably. Ta the strategy I would try to employ.
