2021 random vs 2020 known pick

Postby Pullo Vision » Mon Feb 17, 2020 11:25 am

The focus is 2020 1sts that you know their draft slots vs 2021 1sts that have unknown draft positions. These are two questions-

1- what is the highest 2020 1st you'd be willing to trade away for a "random" 2021 1st?
2- what is the lowest 2020 1st you'd be willing to acquire for your "random" 2021 1st?
League #1- 14 tm ppr, 1Q, 2R, 3W, 1T, 1 R/W/T, 1K
1 DT, 2 DE, 2 LB, 1 CB, 1 S, 1 flex

League #2- 12 team PPR, 1Q, 1R, 2W, 1T, 1 R/W/T, 1 W/R/T, 1 Def

League #3- 12 tm PPR, 1Q, 0R (yes, ZERO RB) 3W, 1T, 2 R/W/T flex, 1 Def

I would sell 2020 1.01 for 3 random 2021 1sts. Caveat would be that I look at the rosters and make sure they aren't completely stacked.

1. I have been trading away early 2020 2nds for 2021 1sts, so at this point I see no reason to trade and single 2020 1st for a single 2021.
2. I could see someone falling to that 1.10-1.12 range.

I usually discount picks by a round in rookie drafts for future picks. In other words if I see a player on the board I want and he is there at the top of the 2nd this year I would offer a future 1st until I get the target or someone else takes him.

Future 1sts should be traded on fantasy draft day if its a pick for pick deal and not before is my general rule in either direction.

I made a trade earlier last month where I had the option of receiving the 1.12 or a 2021 1st and 2nd. That felt like the right value difference to me

1- The only 1st I'd even consider trading away straight up for a random 2021 1st is the 1.12. Picks now are inherently worth more because you'll be able to use them this year. They'll potentially gain value sooner and this class is loaded. I'm not likely to make a trade like that until I'm on the clock.

2- This is highly dependent on the state of my team and my goal for 2020.

A huge part of the value difference between a ‘20 1st and ‘21 1st is also the associated lost opportunity you’re incurring by not being able to realize value for another year.
