That's funny 'cause I just traded Darwin & a 2020 4th for Justice Hill & a 2020 3rd. This was just a day before the McCoy news. I wanted to test just how high Darwin's value had climbed and I really like Justice Hill's prospects. I do really like Darwin but not to the Justice Hill level.

Justice Hill value

Postby Jcedwards » Sun Feb 09, 2020 6:19 am

What would you say his value is at now?

I think he can be a good player for the Ravens, but he is absolutely buried on depth chart there, and I'm not sure if he will climb up that depth chart anytime soon. Ingram and Gus both looked good last year, but I don't know the contract statuses of either. I spent 2.01 on Hill last year, so I am still fairly high on him, but I know that I will not get that for him now.

Is he even worth a 2nd right now?

Ooph the 2.01??? Well I don't think you can get that back. You may be able to get something in the mid to late 2nd round now from the right person.

I think Hill is a hold right now. Your not getting value for him right now. I don't think they resign Gus and Hill will take over for Ingram in a year or two

Yea I was really high on him last year and after my 2.01, I didn't have another pick until 2.10. I was so high on him that i decided to take him at 2.01, because I knew he'd be gone by 2.10. I passed on more notable names like Deebo, Parris Cambell, AJ Brown, and JJAW, because I liked Hill, plus I was good at WR. It didn't hurt me though, because I ended up winning the championship, but it would have been nice to use that pick on one of those 4 (even though 2 were productive this year).

I have a guy who likes Hill, but due to the backfield situation, he isn't willing to spend more than a 3rd on him at the moment. We are in talks of a trade involving Kirk and Hill for 2.02 with another player/ pick though, so I'm trying to see how he is viewed at this moment.

I’m in an IDP league with 6 rounds of rookie picks so maybe slightly skewed but if I was trading for him I would give a late 3rd. FWIW I don’t buy guys who I have to wait on for playing time unless I was in a complete rebuild.
12 team IDP Salary Cap w/ contracts 40 man roster + 20 taxi spots | 4 year max contract w/ Franchise(1)/Transition(2)/RFA Tags). Mostly mirrors real NFL.

From what I understand, Edwards is a FA this offseason and Ingram is signed through this year. Edwards is a replacement-level two-down plodder, so I don’t see them breaking the bank for him. If they don’t bring Edwards back, Hill could easily have standalone flex value as the direct backup to Ingram in that run-heavy offense. He should see most of the passing down work in that scenario, with RB1 upside if Ingram goes down. I think he’s a solid hold unless someone comes at you with an overpay, which seems unlikely at the moment.

Even if they do bring Edwards back, it’s not entirely unreasonable to think that Hill could jump him on the depth chart with a year in the system under his belt. I just don’t see you finding anyone in the late 2nd or early 3rd round with his combination of athleticism and upside. Don’t forget, this is a kid who ran Chris Carson out of Stillwater, and Carson has had a pretty solid NFL career in his own right.
Both are 12-team 1QB PPR dynasties

Taxi: Willis, Z. White, M. Mims, T. Palmer

Edwards is a UFA, but I wont be shocked to see the Ravens bring him back. I doubt he will cost much and he is a solid thumper in that system should Ingram go down. Ingram has 2 years left on his deal, but he can be cut after the 2020 season with 0 dead cap hit. So it should probably be viewed as a 1 year deal.

Now for Hill, I cant remember where I saw this, but if you're a 4th round or later RB, and you didn't produce/play much your rookie year, you pretty much never become fantasy relevant. The only real value Hill has is to the Ingram owner. Otherwise he looks like a roster clogger.

He’s a really volatile asset. I think his range of outcomes includes both “usurps the starting job from Ingram and is a fringe RB1” to “Baltimore drafts Akers in the 2nd and you can’t get a late 3rd for him.” I don’t think his price will rise dramatically after free agency or the draft, so I’m not sure that you need to buy right now if this is a guy that you want. On the other hand, if you want to sell because you don’t believe in him, might as well do it now because there’s a non-zero chance the bottom falls out.

I have one share and I’m holding unless somebody blows me out of the water.

Thinking of packaging him up with 1.09 for 1.06 (the owner has gus and Ingram) I doubt it gets the job done, but might get a convo going

His value spiked a lot in the preseason last year. If Edwards isn't retained and Hill has another nice preseason there could be a nice value spike there.

Mid/late 2nd. Hill is talented, but I think BAL would use a committee backfield even if Ingram were to get hurt next season or cut after 2020 whether it's Edwards or someone else.

Looks like Gus Edwards was tendered - but not 100% positive. Either way it likely tempers some of Hills hope in 2020 at least until games start.

Gus is a great thumper when they have a lead. I'd think Hill would get more work if they fell behind more often
