Any early consensus on 2020 rookie draft?

Postby Cowboysfan33 » Sat Dec 28, 2019 8:05 pm

I don’t watch a whole lot of college football, just a few big bowl games but is there an early consensus on the 2020 rookie draft? I know it’s supposed to be a loaded class and know about a few of the main players like D.Swift, Jeudy, etc. but is there a drop off after the first 4-5 players or not? I’m ready to start some early studying on the upcoming rookies, thanks.

My first tier is 5 deep. These are guys Imma take happily no matter where they go, I'd expect to see impact withing the first two years assuming they stay healthy

Jerry jeudy
Johnathan Taylor
D'andre swift
Jk Dobbins
Ceedee lamb

Second tier is about the same, but I wouldn't count them as "sure fire", but if they do end up in God tier situations they can get bumped up to tier 1 (Akers to KC or shenault to NO or something along the lines of that)

Cam Akers
Travis Etienne
Laviska shenault
Henry Ruggs
DeVonte Smith (WR ALA)
Najee Harris
Clyde Edwards helaire
Tee Higgins

Tier 3, they belong here or I haven't looked at these guys at all tbh 😂😂

Chubba Hubbard
TEs
Zach moss
Kylin Hill
KeShawn Vaughn
Justin Jefferson
Anthony Gandy Golden (sp?)
12 Team 1 ppr .1 points per carry
Garbage
QB Jalen Hurts
RB A-train, D'Onta Foreman,Jahmyr Gibbs, JK Dobbins, Rashaad Penny, AJ Dillon, Jerrick McKinnon, Joshua Kelley, TDP, Chase Edmonds, JRob, Zamir White
WR CeeDee Lamb, Justin Jefferson, DJ Moore, Hollywood Brown, Brandin Cooks, Odell Beckham Junior, Marvin Jones, Braxton Berrios, Richie James
TE Dalton Kincaid, Foster Moreau

The only consensus I really buy into/completely agree with at this point is that it's a deep and talented class.

I don't think RB1 is a consensus right now, nor do I think it will reach consensus until after the NFL draft and we have clarity on situations.

WR1 may be closer to consensus today than RB1, but I don't think Jeudy has the raw production or the measurable athletic upside that will allow him to run wire-to-wire as the clear-cut consensus WR1.
I wouldn't be all that surprised to learn that a fair percentage of NFL execs/scouts prefer CeeDee Lamb (or Ruggs) depending on their offensive scheme/team needs. If/when this talking point emerges, the dynasty community will follow suit.

One name not mentioned in this thread that I'm definitely monitoring is Brandon Aiyuk. Based on how tiers were organized above I'd have him in Tier 2, probably top half of that tier.

There's no need to read the entire thing, you can just read the last couple of pages and be caught up on the current feelings of the community about this draft. This thread is completely redundant and unnecessary.

Or it could be a more concise thread of people's thoughts after the college season is over and up until and thought the combine and draft... Not every topic needs a mega thread that lasts forever

I'm really interested (as many are) in landing spots, but especially this season given the talent of the tier 2 guys. This year, I could see a 2nd or 3rd round RB selected by the Chiefs leapfrogging the guys who we may rank as higher talents for the 1.01. I mean, would you take Swift drafted in the mid 1st to MIA or Hubbard grabbed in the late 2nd to KC? That would make it really interesting since the 2nd tier is really talented this year.

Swift. I think there is a talent gap between Swift and Hubbard.

Consensus #6 in rookie draft

Postby Rustycage » Tue Jan 21, 2020 12:32 pm

Hey guys, with Etienne going back to school I'm wondering who the consensus #6 rookie is. I have 1.01, 1.02, 1.03, 1.04 and 1.06. Assuming the guy at 1.05 takes Lamb, I'm stuck wondering what to do at 1.06. I've read so many posts and checked so many websites. Seems like their is no real consensus #6. I guess I've answered my own question in a way, maybe their is no consensus #6 right now and I'll have to wait for the combine and landing spots.

TE - Gesicki, Engram, Uzomah, Hurst, Manhertz, Farrell

Doubt there is a consensus right now, but my top 3 candidates at the moment would be Higgins, Akers, Laviska.

It'll change. But it'll probably be one of Akers, Ruggs, and Laviska.

Ahh, yeah what BJD said. Higgins is good too.

So no, there's no consensus but you're going to get a very good player.
