Bryce Love Thread

Postby Triton85 » Fri Jan 11, 2019 1:51 pm

Just reading an article in which they say he had surgery in December to repair a torn acl...

This is the first I've heard of it - has anyone else seen this before today?

Story broke about an hour ago, he missed his opportunity imo to come out in the draft last year when his stock was higher, this year was a disaster for him.

Weren't there articles about him that he had interests other than football?

edit: yeah it was
As much as I desperately wish to play in the NFL, I am also passionate about becoming a pediatrician

Returning to school was a massive mistake, even before this news. RB moreso than any other position needs to go pro and get paid as soon as possible.

Woof. Big blow to an already perceived weak skill position class. Glad I dealt most of my 19 picks to load up in 2020.

Man. This stinks so much. He sounds like a great guy who put helping others above extra millions of dollars and a chance of that all going away, and then had a regressive season and severe knee injury. He went from a 2nd round to a 5th? round pick so that he could finish his degree and set himself up to be a doctor after his NFL career

Karma clearly doesn't exist. He didn't deserve this.

Real awful blow for the guy. Wouldn't be entirely unrealistic for him to go undrafted at this point.

He will be a late round pick. I don't have the quote but I'm quite positive that he has said he only wanted to play his rookie contract and then move to being a full time doctor. Tack that onto a disappointing senior year AND a torn ACL in mid December, I doubt he gets a long term commitment from a team.

Great guy, very intelligent, super tough (put up 2150 yards in his junior year and he was banged up for a lot of it) exciting runner, made the wrong choice going back to school. Should have taken the money and ran, then finished school part time.

Unfortunate and disappointing for a great guy.

Or another way of thought about this...

Maybe this is good karma for him.
Maybe he still made the right choice.

Maybe he will avoid CTE because of this. Or maybe he will be able to provide more value and positive changes for the world if he has a shorter professional football career.

For some people money is not the most important factor in picking a job or career. I believe there are studies out there with results that say once you reach an income around $80,000/year, making any more $ on top of that does not make you any happier.
I'm too ashamed of any of my teams to post.

Likely written by someone who has plateaued at $80k per year.

NO testing now. His stock was all about his speed, and now that can't even be confirmed. 4th round at best.

Yeah, 80 seems like an awfully low benchmark for monetary bliss.
