Newbie here.

Postby JockPostDT » Wed Jul 20, 2011 9:52 am

Guys (and girls?),

I have been viewing the boards for a few days now, and must admit that I am loving some of the discussions going on here. I have been playing fantasy sports for the better part of my life and enjoy it as much now as I did when I was 12. I've been involved in dynasty baseball leagues in the past, but have recently inherited a dynasty football team. This forum is a the perfect place to gather info and thoughts, and I am excited to be a contributor.

I currently have pick 1.2 in my league's rookie draft and really enjoyed the "AJ Green v Julio Jones' debate from some of the other threads. I look forward to digging into some of the other topics.

Good luck this year and end the damn lock out already!

Shop those 2nd rd picks for a TE. You absolutely do NOT want to be drafting any TE out of this class to be a starter.
If you can't leave at least a 20% tip, you can't afford to eat out.

First, welcome.

Second, even though you didn't ask for it, I too will give you some advice :D You've inherited quite a project here.

QB - Your fine here. I guess holding Caleb Hanie is fine but it's probably the first time I've seen Cutler handcuffed!!
RB - Hold Stewart, but you know that. Overall, your RB situation is okay. Certainly the strength of your team.
WR - Oh boy. There's little choice here but to just take your time and work at it. You are at least a WR2 and WR3 short.

My recommendations:
- Like Skip said, see if a second can grab you a TE. I'd target Cook, Moeaki, Hernandez. Don't take an older guy like Heap. By the time you are contending he might be dead!
- I'd test the market for Hillis. Don't sell him cheaply, but I'd see what people are willing to offer. I don't think Hillis will still be productive by the time you are contending.
- For sure shop Jennings to the MJD owner. MJD seems to be causing a panic and I'd try to cash in. If I could get another second, I'd take it. Or maybe that guy has a TE to send you.
- I'd test the market for the 1.02. Sometimes people will overpay for a top-tier rookie pick. You need quantity not just quality at this point. If you can get a player and a pick for instance, it could be worth it. Maybe a long shot, but if the Britt owner has a decent first (e.g. 1.10 or better), I see if I could get Britt and his pick for the 1.02. I'd try this same type of deal for guys like Harvin, Holmes, maybe Crabtree and Collie.

Good luck. We're here to help.

Thinking I can snag a decent TE in the free agent period. Cooley, Olson, Tammie, and a few others available. Here is a link to my scenario...

Cooley is deff the best option there... Olson is in a Mike Martz offense that doesn't use TEs and Tamme will go back to a backup role behind Clark.
Don't bet against Nightmarion...he made me look like a fool :)
