2020 BAD Trade Offers

New guy took over a team, and he made an immediate trade bringing in a haul for Devante Adams. New owner then said in the chat Mahomes would be on the block. This is a 1qb, 6pt passing td league


Few hours later posts a screen shot of the offer he got of Carson Wentz and a 3rd for Mahomes and asks if it’s a joke. I laughed, said welcome to the league, guessing some guys around here were trying to feel out if they could take advantage of the new guy and gain an edge for their team.

Guy who made the offer got pretty upset the offer was aired to the league to make fun of him. That it’s not far off, Wentz and Mahomes were within 25 pts last year and it’s 1qb, and if he didn’t like it a “no thanks” was all that was needed.

1) Wentz and a 3rd for Mahomes a truly bad trade offer?

2) Any of you in leagues with an active group chat post those ugly offers that come your way for league mates to see?

Edit 2: nevermind. Guy who offered Wentz and a 3rd for Mahomes didn’t accept the apology, told him to keep his crap to himself. So new guy said F this and quit.

New guy is going to be a New Guy for a long time as he bounces between leagues because if he can't handle negative reactions from other owners he's never going to last in any league.

In a 1QB it's close enough. Maybe a late 2nd? Also how many teams? Posting like that is bad form. Did he get any better offers after he posted it?

1. Yes. Even in 1 QB, Mahomes is going 23rd overall; Wentz is going 106th.

2. No, I'm not in any leagues where this happened. My concern isn't that I'm going to be mocked for a bad offer- I don't care about that and I generally don't send that kind of stuff. The reason leagues shouldn't let this stuff fly is that it kills leverage by letting the whole league know who you're trying to move. I don't want people to know that I'm trying to trade Derrick Henry or Kenyan Drake; I want everybody to think that they would be really hard for me to part with.

Wentz and a 3rd for Mahomes is a horrible offer.

I have one league where an owner or two has called out the owner in our league that chronically sends bad trade offers. I don't think there was ever any specifics regarding what was offered, just messages calling him out for his ridiculous offers. The commissioner put an end to those types of messages and we all move on.

Not a fan of calling people out, likely to lose a trade partner. I've been called out once on a offer the trade calculator had as a slight loss for me( I know...trade calculators), some offers in this tread that are bad now, may have been steals in a couple years from now

I just recently started seeing these type of call outs in my league's and I'm not a fan.

Ive also found that most of the time the offers were not even that bad.

Two offers Ive made that have been called out
1.Give: Jake Kumerow + 2020 4th Get: Tony Pollard
(This happened last offseason right after it was announced Zeke was signing, the GB #2 WR position was up for grabs. I figured I'd get a counter of a 3rd and accept but didnt expect the call out)
2. Give: Malcom Brown Get: Tyler Johnson
(This was to the Akers owner)

After the 1st call out I was pissed and swore off trading with the guy. Now that ive seen these call out enough, I still think its bush league but I just kind of laugh and move on.

I just recently got called out for getting 1.1 for Marvin Jones, 1.3 and 2.5 in team 2. The guy at 1.1 was new and everyone called me out for taking advantage of the new guy in our group chat. The new guy then posted some of the trades he has gotten for 1.1 and it has been bad. The new guy had no other picks and his team is awful plus he is a huge Dobbins fan and saw it as a three man tier instead of top 2. I personally wouldn't have taken that trade but I could see where he was coming from if he doesn't see much difference between 1.1 and 1.3.

Basically what I am trying to say is fantasy football group chats can get out of hand quick if you have a couple people who aren't afraid to call people out for bad trades. Not really sure how long the new guy will last.
