ninotoreS wrote: Mon Jun 03, 2019 11:14 pm I like Henderson, I think perhaps he could bellcow in the NFL (he'll need to improve his pad-level first, though), but I suspect the Rams themselves truly do view him as a high-end committee-back (which is more or less what they've been telling us all along).

So basically, even in a scenario without Gurley, I suspect the Rams will still look to pair Henderson with another runner, with said runner retaining a signfiicant role. Maybe even someone as modest as Malcolm Brown.

Is that still worth the 1.1? Zierlein compares Henderson to Tevin Coleman, and according to the tale of the tape that's not a bad comparison, because the two players have similar strengths (e.g. big play magnet, runs with anger, can catch) and similar flaws (e.g. bad pad-level, tight hips, impatient and straight-lineish). Coleman's flaws have kept him from being viewed as feature-back material around the league, despite his proven knack for chunk plays. Will that be Henderson's NFL fate too?

edit: I should clarify I do like Henderson as a prospect more than I did Coleman, because unlike Coleman, Henderson checks the BMI box (comfortably). So maybe that can prove to be a key difference between them?
Coleman's an interesting comp. I don't agree completely that they have similar flaws. Henderson seems like he can stop and go a little bit better and seems to be a little bit more slippery than Coleman. I see some plays that remind me of Dalvin Cook, although not consistently. Perhaps the difference seems larger due to a combination of his higher BMI and playing against lower competition than Coleman.

I agree that he's not necessarily a workhorse back. But it may not matter on the Rams. If he's the more explosive and more frequent pass catcher in a committee in LA, that's still a recipe for top 10 numbers.

 I'm actively buying Gurley, if I can get Henderson for an early 2nd, all day. Not spending a first, thought as I play Superflex/TE premium almost exclusively, and he's outside my first in those formats. I quite simply don't believe anyone who has any real "inside information" of the Rams innermost working would be mixing it up on a Fantasy Football forum dropping enigmatic posts about the situation. Your posts are humorous and over the top on the subject, but forgive me if I don't believe you have any real insight into the situation as you claim to, because I don't.
Wait, so you don't believe his legal ramifications gag order from the Rams illuminati?

The Mizelle ADP page has him going at 1.06 in June, after being at 2.02 (#14 overall) in May. Closing in on 1.01!

Henderson or Gurley?

Even if the Rams do love him and Gurley is trending down, he’s no lock for future success. A RB drafted at #70 with a busy backfield (at best) still isn’t someone I’m drafting as high as he’s starting to go. Late 1st? Sure. Mid/high 1st? Eh, not going to feel good about that and no. Even last year people started going higher and higher for Royce Freeman...and then reality sets in and cost goes back down. Seems to happen every year. think people are just getting ahead of themselves with wishful thinking on the returns. I get risk/reward, just not sure at the prices he’s starting to go.

Gurley owner in my league keeps trying to get him, but I think the issue is I got Henderson at 3.04 and he wants to offer 2nds now or players worth seconds (Chris Herndon was an intruguing offer to me with TE the wasteland for production that it is right now). and not late 1st picks or players worth about that.

He has a 2020 1st from a contender. I want that for D Henderson from the Gurley owner with everyone else hyping him so dang much.

I certainly have no objection if an owner feels that Henderson could outscore Gurley as early as 2019, and uses that as a rationale to value him similar to 1.01-1.03. I may disagree but I have no problem that they feel this is a possibility - so long as they dont pretend it is the only possibility. :)

I'm waiting to offer my shares of Henderson to those owners. Just trying to figure out when the value will peak..before John Kelly takes over.
The only thing John Kelly is taking over is the equipment managers job lol.

Yeah. This entire thread makes me lol. I said the #1 thing to not trust is coach-speak, let alone second-hand coach speak.

Wanna play a game? Here are some quotes from McVay about his players over the years. First we need a baseline. How about his thoughts on Gurley, eh?

Gurley: "we know what a special back Todd Gurley is" (Source)

Watkins: "With Sammy, I think clearly you're getting a special receiver," (Source)

Check it out. He used the same word to describe the arguable best player in the league, and his 4th best pass-catcher in 2017.

Tavon Austin: "clearly an incredible talent" (Source) and to be a "big part of our offense" (Source)

Alex Ogletree: “He’s the epitome of what we’re looking for,” McVay said, “in terms of the players that you want to build around. I’m very happy for Alec and we’re excited to see him get locked up as a Ram for a long time.” (Oct 17, 2017) Alec was McVay's top priority when he became the head coach. He was traded to the Giants less than 5 months later.

He hasn't been on the Rams that long, so that's probably enough for now. The point is that quotes mean nothing
