Let's talk... Will Dissly (AKA, the official Will Dissly thread)

Postby Shcritters » Wed Sep 25, 2019 8:39 am

Not an athletic freak.

Showed out in first couple of weeks in 2018 as a rookie before season ending IR.

Coming on strong in his 2nd year with a solid WR (Lockett) and a rookie with major upside (DK) who isn't established yet.

He's only averaged 55% snap count so far this year, and now his backup (Vannett, averaging ~38% snap share) is traded.

Great blocker (go watch his block on Cameron Jordan for like 4 seconds) in a run first offense, so he could be poised to be an every down TE.

Thoughts? Viable TE1 for the future?

Let's talk about these "let's talk" threads.

But Dissly does look good. He's a start this week, but I don't know what he is yet. I do know the Hawks were very high on him as a blocker, and he seems to have come back from that terrible injury well.

Agree with this, think he is in for a big season, can he sustain it past this season? Who knows? Tes are ridiculous to forecast.

I just traded John Brown for Dissly straight up. Hoping he can be a top 10 TE long term.

Will Dissly is the new, not athletic TE, but is tied to a great QB on a team that doesn't have a lot of options at passing. And it also looks like Seattle will have to abandon the run game for now, so targets a plenty for Dissly.

Note that his production has come despite sharing a ton of snaps with Nick Vannett. He averages 14 ppg in his 5 full healthy games. He could be our new unathletic white tight end that is somehow fantasy friendly, like Jack Doyle, Kyle Rudolph, Cameron Brate, Heath Miller, Jason Witten lol.

Russ was looking for him a lot around the goal line I know that. I don't see why he can't be a back end TE1 for a little bit.

3 straight games with:
5+ catches
1+ TD
50+ yards
18+ PPR points

Where are people valuing this guy right now? I tried to sell for a likely late 2nd last week and was rejected...don't think I would sell for that now. Am I overreacting?

I have him in a TE Super Premium league and it would take a 1st plus to get him from me. In a regular league a mid/early 2nd is probably about right. If you can get a 1st I’d take it and run.

Is it time to consider Will Dissly, 23 YO, 2nd year player who was a 4th round pick, in the same tier or higher than guys like Njoku, Henry, Howard?

Averaging nearly 13 PPG in his 8 healthy games to date.

Yes, but that has a lot to do with Njoku, Henry and Howard dropping significantly in value. The 2nd tier of TEs is now Andrews, Hooper, Hockenson.

I’m not sure if it’s safe to say just yet, but at this rate I believe I would put Dissly above OJ/Henry/Njoku. I think he slates in after Hooper, and basically even with Andrews and Hock (for now at least).

The one thing I am concerned about with Dissly are the targets. He did all of his damage last night on 4 targets, which just doesn’t seem sustainable. Russell spreads the ball around so much that I am concerned Dissly will never be more than a back-end TE1. He’s had a great run - and don’t get me wrong, I own him, like him, and have been starting him - but I don’t know how much more upside he has than what he is currently showing.
