Re: Week 14 Discussion
I think the argument that Phaded is using that you need a better than average QB to succeed and need to pay through the nose for one used to be true. As the rules have changed, offenses have become better at creating wide-open throws and scheme and surrounding talent makes it possible for a weaker QB to do well. The point about the Cowboys needing to remain viable is a good one, but the baked in assumption there is that Dak and a weaker team will get you more wins than a potentially 'lesser' QB and a stronger team.
What interests me is the relative ease or difficulty of assessing how good a QB is versus making the same assessment for other positions. I'm not talking about during the draft, but after a few years in the league. I think we are very confident about which DEs can play and which OTs can play. I don't think we can say the same about many, many QBs. I wouldn't spend 30 million a year on Dak because I don't know, and I don't think anyone can really know, how good he actually is. Are we sure that a late round pick from Mississippi State is a difference maker? Or could it be that playing behind a huge line, with Cooper and Gallup and Zeke is now something that a lot of guys in the league could do with the same degree of success?
If I had Mahomes, Watson, Wilson - and Lamar if things are still humming next year- I would pay what it took. I'd probably pay for Stafford because I KNOW he can and will make plays that others can't. I'd even think about if for a guy like Darnold who promises an unusually high ceiling. When I can't see anything that reassures me that Dak is doing things that Tannehill can't do, or someone like Minshew or Kyle Allen couldn't with a year of seasoning? No thanks.
The Cowboys are already paying a fortune to an RB who is elite, despite the position being of questionable value. They would be foolish to then double up on a QB who may not be much better than average- especially on a team expensively constructed to run the ball and take shots off play-action...

Re: Week 14 Discussion
Le'Veon Bell ruled out with illness, that's going to hurt a lot of owners this week. I have no shares and not facing him in any leagues, but do own the 1st round pick of his owner in one league, and if he loses that pick is 1.07 so this news helps me.

Re: Week 14 Discussion
I'm definitely rolling with some unexpected names today. If you had told me two months ago that in the 4 leagues I made playoffs I'd be starting guys like
Tannehill
Fitzpatrick
Snell
Guice
Parker
Pascal
I don't think I'd have believed you.
Good luck all!

Same boat. Starting a bunch of those guys, and Bilal Powell. Plug and play off waivers for the playoffs makes me nervous.qazxswedcvfrtgbnhyuj wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 10:28 am I'm definitely rolling with some unexpected names today. Re: Week 14 Discussion
I don’t like to say it as a Chiefs fan, but I really love Lock in Denver. If they get a Jeudy or Lamb to pair with Sutton and O Line help later in the draft or in FA, he is gonna take a huge 2nd year leap. Oozes with upside
Re: Week 14 Discussion
They have bigger needs than a WR 1st, gotta beef up that OL. Lock and Fant looking real good together today, they may have something there with their skill positions, will still be quality WRs in the 2nd - 4th rounds.StripesOfKC wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 11:37 am I don’t like to say it as a Chiefs fan, but I really love Lock in Denver. Re: Week 14 Discussion
Omg Lock is slicing apart Houston right now. This is freaking impressive!!
I may or may not be related to Bryan Edwards
Re: Week 14 Discussion
Saints are beating down the 49ers, Brees is gonna win a few people their week.
Re: Week 14 Discussion
Hopefully a lot of you were not relying on Mike Evans for your playoff run (like me).
Hurt and not coming back.
