Re: 2020 QB Thread
I’d be very surprised if Tua falls below the 3rd pick in many SF drafts.

If Tua gets a clean bill of health but falls in the draft to a Saints, Chargers, Panthers or Patriots ... you’d have to be a certifiable idiot not to take him 1.01 in a SF.Cult of Dionysus wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2019 12:27 pm I’d be very surprised if Tua falls below the 3rd pick in many SF drafts.

My 1st draft is before the NFL Draft, and I’ll still may take him at 1.01.Forza_Azzurri wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2019 12:56 pmIf Tua gets a clean bill of health but falls in the draft to a Saints, Chargers, Panthers or Patriots ... you’d have to be a certifiable idiot not to take him 1.01 in a SF.Cult of Dionysus wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2019 12:27 pm I’d be very surprised if Tua falls below the 3rd pick in many SF drafts.
Re: 2020 QB Thread
Glenn has been banged up but I don't believe he's been more than "serviceable" and Billy Price from all I know has been a major bust so far.Forza_Azzurri wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2019 12:23 pm In theory, Cincy has the talent on the o-line ... Cordy Glenn just returned & they drafted Jonah William in the first last year but he went on IR in preseason. Billy Price was a #1 pick ... maybe he still can develop into something.
However, maybe someone like Jonah Williams could be the cog to turn it around.
Re: 2020 QB Thread
After this first half vs Georgia, Burrow has full command of the #1 pick in the NFL draft. Pocket presence, ball placement, rushing, he just has it all.

He lacks elite arm strength, but has all the intangibles, and his ball placement is great. I think he's got to be the consensus 1.01 in SF/2QB leagues.

What do you expect the team that drafts Tua to say? "Well I hope one day he can be the guy he was before the injury, but that is a major if."Forza_Azzurri wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2019 12:56 pmIf Tua gets a clean bill of health but falls in the draft to a Saints, Chargers, Panthers or Patriots ... you’d have to be a certifiable idiot not to take him 1.01 in a SF.Cult of Dionysus wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2019 12:27 pm I’d be very surprised if Tua falls below the 3rd pick in many SF drafts.
The team that drafts him is going to say (as are any doctor affiliated with his actual surgery or Bama) "everything looks great and he should be back better than ever once he is fully healed."
I just think he is way to risky to take him high in both real life and FF. I dont care what the team says about him as that is all a PR stunt. The last player in the NFL to have this kind of injury was Dennis Pitta. He injured his hip in January 2014 and didnt play again until 2016. Way too much unknown with this injury to invest lots of draft capital for me.
Re: 2020 QB Thread
A question about arm-strength... is that not something that can be worked upon, as a young man grows into a pro-wn man? Surely hitting the gym on an NFL curated diet could increase this.FantasyFreak wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2019 5:27 pmHe lacks elite arm strength, but has all the intangibles, and his ball placement is great. Just curious if this is a thing that can be built. I guess there are plenty examples of noodle-armed system QB's flopping (Mariota?) and never increasing their strength in their first few years...

I was taking Burrow at 1.01/first QB even before the Tua injury.jenkins.math wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2019 6:15 pmWhat do you expect the team that drafts Tua to say? He doesn’t have Herberts arm, but he's got enough to make all the throws just fine, he's not Chad Pennington.mild wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2019 6:19 pmA question about arm-strength... is that not something that can be worked upon, as a young man grows into a pro-wn man? Burrow reminds me of Romo ... smart ... super accurate ... enough athleticism to keep plays alive ... not an overpowering arm but strong enough to make all NFL throws.

Re: 2020 QB Thread
Burrow came to LSU from Ohio State which are 2 elite strength and conditioning programs. Coming from those schools I would imagine they maximize their guys and those have less room to grow than someone from a smaller school and inferior facilities.mild wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2019 6:19 pmA question about arm-strength... is that not something that can be worked upon, as a young man grows into a pro-wn man? I'm sure it can be improved, but at this stage of his career, I doubt it would be anything dramatic. Similar to speed. In fact I don't ever remember a QB suddenly developing a cannon in the NFL.

to the naysayers on the arm strength... isn't that Tua's biggest question mark as well?

Not sure there are any naysayers. It's just the reality. Everyone I have seen says he looks like a great QB overall (myself included), but the lack of elite arm strength is pretty obvious.Krypto_King wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 1:11 amForza_Azzurri wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2019 7:30 pm Burrow reminds me of Romo ... smart ... super accurate ... enough athleticism to keep plays alive ... not an overpowering arm but strong enough to make all NFL throws.
