Alexander Mattison value?

Postby Kelldon » Mon Nov 25, 2019 1:31 pm

I'm not a Dalvin Cook owner just curious what people have him valued. Mattison owner doesn't own Cook either so I am thinking about going after him. He has looked good when in the game and Cook has injury history.

from personal experience with Mattison in a few leagues, You must wait until Cook owner approach you, if you will do first step forward, chances are Cook owner will not pay you much, or anything

Maybe I didn't make my post clear, sorry. I am thinking about trading for Mattison from a team that doesn't own Cook.

"I'm not a Dalvin Cook owner", in this case I value him late 2nd/early 3rd, he is Top back up but still just a back up (if that make any sense).

I think acquiring him is smart, but only at the right price. As a non-Cook owner, not sure I would pay more than a 3rd, as I would prefer my 2nd round pick dart throw versus a guy sitting behind a true stud, hoping for an injury. Also must consider the roster clogging issue as a non-Cook owner - depending on your roster size and build, he may eventually become a primary cut (or hopefully trade) candidate the longer Cook stays healthy. I definitely agree he looks the part and would absolutely inquire about price, but there are better upside options IMHO if you are considering a 2nd.

No one is selling Mattison for a 3rd (less than his draft position) as he’s put up great numbers when given the chance. He was around 2.8 in the spring drafts and his value has only gone up this year. This price leaves many in quandary as some might prefer the 2020 picks and Mattison owners aren’t going to lose perceived value when Mattison has show he is a premier handcuff.

Where I have him I would move him for an early 2nd but no less.

That's what I was going to say. His value to a contender in the event of a Cook injury is probably a late first. I picked him in the late second and he has done well. If someone wants him before a Cook injury an early 2nd seems fair. No reason for me to trade him at cost when he has done well given the role.

Just for perspective, I traded him at the deadline (week 11) along with Curtis Samuel to the Cook owner for a first. I think both sides were happy with value.

Not worth trading him for a late second, not quite worth a first in most circumstances.

Most Mattison owners probably want at least an early/mid 2nd to sell him at this point.

I traded Scarborough & a 2019 3rd for Mattison last week.

I am the Dalvin Cook owner.

I would guess that most Mattison owners are holding, especially with Cook's injury history. Mattison could turn into a league winner in a millisecond if Cook ever goes down for an extended period.

I acquired him on Team 1 last week for slayton + justice hill. Not the dalvin owner (yet anyway, let’s see what the offseason brings) but there’s something about him that made him my guy. Let’s hope I’m right.

I'm cook owner and Mattison owner is missing playoffs and still won't sell him for 2nd🙄. I offered 2 2nds worth of value/picks earlier this year and he wouldn't budge. No reason to pay a 1st for him imo. I would consider a 1st if Cook is injured but he isn't worth 2 1sts so why pay that before he is injured? I'd rather pay a 1st for Ingram or David Johnson than pay a 1st for a backup.

Dusting this one off… maybe deserves its own thread… BUT…

What are we thinking Mattison’s value will be if Cook is traded or released? Haven’t heard many people talking about him very much. Anyone else feel like this might be a buy or sell window? Curious what the masses are thinking.
