Bonnafon or Mike Davis the better cuff?

Postby DynastyDabbler » Fri Nov 15, 2019 6:40 pm

Who do you think benefits more if CMC goes down? I've had Bonnafon rostered just in case but Mike Davis has had decent production when filling in. Thoughts?

If CMC goes down then you (and the Panthers) are screwed, neither is worth anything just hope CMC stays healthy.

I don't own CMC. Just looking to discuss the Carolina backfield in the event that CMC goes down. Personally, I'd like to keep the cuff out of the CMC owners reach since he's a contender.

Mostly so they can recoup a 4th round compensatory pick they gave up to sign him. He wasn't contributing much on the offense, but they would have kept him around for depth purposes if there wasn't anything to gain by dumping him.

?

I thought comp consideration was only given for guys lost via free agency...not players outright cut. I don’t know for sure though

It's complicated, but basically they would have received the pick for losing Adrian Amos in FA, but when they signed Davis in FA it basically canceled it out. Then Davis wasn't much use to them so they cut him right before the deadline for it to affect the Compensatory Pick calculation.

I concur.

Both times a team has waived him, another team has claimed him immediately off waivers rather than let him go to FA which suggests NFL teams feel the same way. Is he going to be something super special? Not at all, but he is definitely someone an NFL team seems comfortable plugging into their RB depth.

Davis is making 3m a year which is on the higher end of the RB spectrum for veterans (he's making more than Damien Williams or LeSean McCoy for example) and the Panthers showed no hesitation signing him.
Please speak to clarion contrarion before considering the use of vetos..

Between the two, Davis. I would not save a spot for either though if you have a tough cut.
