well, if you are prepared to pay something, you'll probably be willing to add a 10% if required.
but this does not take into account knee jerk/drunk trade offers!
I once was offered AJ Green and an early 3rd for Jordan Matthews straight up (about 3 years ago when AJG was still "young"). Wasn't a drunk deal either, the guy texted me about it ahead of time. He really wanted J-Matt.
No frickin way I was risking that deal for nickels and dimes!
he must have been in the concussion protocol then!

Isn't that a rule in itself?

Me too. Did it once. Realized how unfair it was... which is ironic considering that "fairness" is supposedly the purpose of veto leagues.
Had a veto rule for a year or two in one of my leagues. One of the owners outright told me "I vote no to any trade that helps a team better than me."

I was foolish to think a group of twelve could be fair.
The difference between idealism and practicality / self-interest.
Please speak to clarion contrarion before considering the use of vetos..

Set up a numerical value system you trust. One for players, both current, and long-term. One for draft picks for the size of your draft. Operating within those guidelines is so much easier, IMO.
10 Team PPR Dynasty (2012 Startup) 2018 1st 2019 2nd 2021 2nd

QB: Matt Stafford(Trade '22), Kirk Cousins(Trade '22), Baker Mayfield(Trade '22)
RB: Jonathan Taylor(Trade '21), ETN(trade '22), Breece Hall(1.02 '22), Deon Jackson (WW '23), Michael Carter (trade '23)
WR: Drake London (Trade '23), Jahan Dotson (Trade "23), Allen Robinson (Trade '22), Brandin Cooks (Trade '23), John Metchie III(2.02 "23), Rondale Moore(Trade '21), Kyle Philips(4.05 '22), Curtis Samuel (Trade '23)
TE: Kyle Pitts(Trade '22), Logan Thomas (WW "23)
LB: Logan Wilson (WW '22), Zaire Franklin (WW'23), Matt Judon (WW '23)
DB: M Fitzpatrick (WW '22), I Simmons (WW "23), Jamal Adams (WW "23)
DL: Chase Young(3.08/'20), Aidan Hutchinson (WW "23)

2023: 1.05, 1.06, 1.07, 1.08, 2.04
2024: 1, 1, 1, 2, 2
2025: 1, 1, 1, 2, 2

1) I don’t make snarky comments when I get a ridiculous trade offer. It just doesn’t accomplish anything and ruins any chance that they might just send you one you like.

2) I don’t set lineups based on projections. I’ve been doing this long enough to trust what I think is likely to happen.

3) When drafting or setting lineups I break all ties by choosing the guy I would rather see do better.

4) Patrick Mahomes is not available ... well, let’s just say no one would pay the price it would take.

While I don't really follow any hard and fast rules, I do have tendencies ..

On character or morality of players .. Over the years I have noticed that the risk taken for these kind of "upside" players far exceeds their actual value and availability. In the past, I have picked up players for the sole purpose of trading them. A few examples are I Crowell and Josh Gordon. I flipped both players for a significant profit, but honestly, I felt really bad about it as time went on. I am big on my own personal integrity and these small shifts do not really sit well with me. The repercussions of those trades ultimately led to those owners to leaving the League or being much less active. Now this doesn't mean I won't take a chance on a player, I did this year on Preston Williams .. but it does mean that when I do take this chance I plan on sticking it out with them, or if I do sell or trade them .. they won't be the only piece involved.

I also am on the side of the fence on not trading Offensive players for IDP. Match-ups and streaming on the IDP side is way easier than on the offensive side of the ball. But again, doesn't mean I won't. I do like to have at least one stud LB and one year due to injuries my LB core went pretty dismal, so I did put together a package for Luke Keuchly.

I guess my biggest thing is that approach all things like I do in real life. How I win is as important as my own integrity.
