Do you operate with any self-imposed “Rules” in dynasty?

Here are some that I’ve heard:

1. I don’t trade. At all. I play the hand I’m dealt, and will not trade my players.

2. I don’t send counter offers. If you want me to accept it, send the best possible trade offer.

3. I don’t trade offense for IDP.

4. I don’t trade my hurt players. That’s selling low and that’s just stupid.

5. I don’t sell my draft picks, ever. I need them.

6. I won’t sell my picks that are more than 1 year out - it’s too far away to know where my team will be.

I find most of these rules ludicrous, and ALL self-imposed rules are potentially harmful IMO. I don’t understand why anyone would limit themselves on what type of moves they will make.

Actually that’s wrong, I guess I do understand it. It’s mostly fear. Anyone who refuses to sell picks or refuses to sell offense for IDP is operating out of fear - not a recipe for success.

Everyone on my roster is available if the trade helps my team. (Even if it means I "lose" according to current valuation)

Oh bleep I misread the title, they aren't YOUR personal rules I really thought you were saying YOU followed those. I'm the moron, I reread them and now I understand. Ya people are silly. The injury rule I probably do follow only because I rarely see a need to trade an injured guy because the one or two offers I've gotten were vastly undervalued. I remember getting a second round pick offer Fournette when he was hurt, and years later I traded him for Adams.

Had that rule a while back after I got burned by a Corey Dillon "active zero" in a game I needed to win to make the playoffs.
Rule held till they drafted a Badger guy in James White. Now I have leagues with Michel, White, Harris.

If have a couple I wouldn't call it a rule but more a matter of principle.
If a trade offer doesn't have a clear path to agreement, I just tell the other party that there's no common ground and walk away. Too many owners these days want to argue extreme positions and it's just not worth it.
The other one is principle of not owning certain players due to prior suspension risk - guys like Bell, AP, Josh Gordon, Kareem Hunt, Walton, etc. I'll even mostly avoid guys who haven't been suspended yet but really show warning signs of personality disorders that could escalate into suspendable offenses - you all can figure out which 3 players fall under this category. Won't draft 'em, won't trade for 'em (any trade offer with those players is an automatic reject).

Only rule I operate with is I don't take advice from others. I give myself my own advice because I have the best mind.

Not mine, but I've run across prospective trade partners who have said "I won't trade with you because it will make your team too good". This happened consistently when my team was currently winning.

My reaction is to bump them to the bottom of the order of owners I contact when I'm looking for a trade.
