So the main concern here is CTE? I thought CTE was the accumulation of many small impacts, not a few massive blows that result in concussions?

I think the concern is that if he gets many more concussions they wont let him play anymore.

The main concern is his situation right now. He is a firm 4th at best right now in targets on his own team.

He was pretty solid last year, probably had near 120 targets... What’s the precedent for retiring from concussions?

Jhavid Best, and that LB from SF a few years ago, Chris Borland. Best, I believe, was not cleared by any doctor, and Borland made the decision on his own after consulting with his family and doctors. Both very young.

Oklahoma TE Grant Calcaterra retired mid season this year due to concussions, and he was one of the top TE prospects in this years class, retired before he ever made a dime as a football player.

Jordan Reed is probably going to be forced into retirement because of concussions soon.

I don’t usually come around these boards until the “fantasy” offseason is here, so I’m just now reading these posts on Cooks, So, I own him in several leagues, as I’ve always thought he was good value, considering that he’s been relatively cheap in most of my leagues. One of the games after he came back at the end of the season, maybe his first game back, the announcers made a comment that Cooks has no intention of retiring, which kinda surprised me, but maybe it shouldn’t have but I was thinking along the lines that after he got his 2nd concussion this season, I thought he would miss the rest of the season, but guess not. At this point, I can’t imagine any owners offering much for him, so he’s still a hold , IMO, until he comes back in 2020, assuming he does, maybe there will be a window to sell him then.

In 2018 Cooks had 3 games with 5 targets or less.

In 2019 Cooks had 8 games with 5 targets or less.

Blame it on whatever you want but that is very concerning. If the targets don't come back his way he is now a WR3/4 with a concussion history. Those guys aren't worth very much in FF.

Houston trades a 2 for Cooks and future 4th rounder.

Bill O'Brien is awful

Lol so much for getting rid of Hopkins and that impending big contract. Cooks contract is already big, no? For NFL purposes this is as dumb as it gets...

For fantasy, I love this for Cooks as long as he can stay healthy. Maybe he and Fuller can combine for 16 games

Extending Hopkins would have cost far less than Cobb + DJ + Cooks, and now the return they got for Hopkins is essentially just moving up from their 2 to Arizona's 2.

Oh and the future 4 is in '22, so BoB likely won't even be there by then.

Let me get this straight..

They traded for another field stretcher? Will Fuller, Kenny Stills, and now Brandin Cooks?

O'brien is either an idiot, or a mad genius.
