Players you wish were in a better situation

Postby Prison_Mike » Tue Oct 01, 2019 8:12 am

Let's discuss players you wish were in a better situation

This list could be endless so let's limit it to players you think would be Top-12 at their position if they were in a better situation
Let's also discuss the likelihood that their situation changes/improves

I'll start with 1 or 2 from each position:

QB:
Jimmy G - Still 11-2 as a starter. Don't get me wrong, Jimmy is in a GOOD situation. But I can't help but wonder how good he could be with an elite WR or a decent receiving corps

Josh Rosen - I don't necessarily think he will/could ever be top-12, but would love to see him play on a team that isn't tanking lol

RB:
Aaron Jones - Probably the most obvious one given the frustrating time-share with Jamaal Williams
(UFA in 2021 but dead cap would be minimal if they moved on from him)

WR:
Allen Robinson - A year removed from injury, looks damn good again (& still young) but I feel his ceiling is capped with Trubisky
(UFA in 2021 - potential out in 2020 @ $2million dead cap)

Another obvious one:
Corey Davis - UFA in 2022

TE is a nightmare but I guess I'll go with some young guys that are just waiting in the wings:
Goedert, Ian Thomas

I think Aaron Jones is in about the best situation he could possibly be in. Green Bay will put just about anyone in their backfield, which is why he's even relevant.

Russel Wilson deserves better. I'd like to see Carson and penny in an offense with more than 3 running plays.

I guarantee Godwin would get JuJu'd if Mike Evans left Tampa.

AJ Green and Mixon don't deserve the Bengals

Robinson getting saddled with another well below par QB situation is sad

rashaad penny, give him the right running scheme and a progressive offense and he'd be mustard.

Interesting, I've seen a lot of people frustrated with his usage and wishing he were elsewhere.
(I suppose that frustration is likely fueled by their ownership of him, rather than his talent)

RB was a tough one because I'm not sure who has a bad situation that could break into that top-12
(for example, Kerryon could easily break in but I don't consider his situation bad)

This x10. “You are a nightmare mismatch in the middle of the field? Ok, let’s have you block.”

In Arians’ defense, OJ is a great blocker... so you can’t claim COMPLETE misuse. And frankly, Bruce Arians does not care about your fantasy team.

Mixon
Wilson
Rosen
Juju (unless Rudolph and the coaching staff start throwing it more)
Davis
Kaepernick?

I'm sure there are others I'm missing.

Dallas goedart might already be a top 5 tight end if he wasnt stuck behind ertz
QB - DWatson(HOU)Minshew(JAX)Darnold(NYJ)
RB -NChubb(CLE)DHenry(TEN)JTaylor(IND)Gurley(ATL)
WR -DHopkins(ARI)ACooper(DAL)CGodwin(TB)OBJ(CLE)
TE - HHenry(SD)DGoeddart(PHI)
K - Zurlien(LAR)Crosby(GB)
Def - ARI DAL
[rookie] Haskins(WAS)DSwift(DET)Jefferson(MIN)MHardman(KC)
7th pick in 2021

Rosters must always be 3qbs 4wrs 4rbs 2tes 2kickers 2dst and protected players don't take up a roster spot, but are only for rookie/2nd-year players that were drafted

Any blue chip running back not named Zeke, CMC or Kamara...

Saquon - Nothing outside to take off pressure, poor line, but hopefully things get better within Eli stumbling and fumbling back there
Mixon - Horrific blocking, poor QB, playing from behind too often for him to get significant carries
Ekeler - Showing great, Gordon signing would crush long term value
Miles Sanders - Eagles have never let one back take a bellcow role

DJ Moore - QB situation is blurry, CMC soaks up too many targets.

fournette... that dude faces more stacked boxes than anyone else in the league. As of right now I think he’s 7th in the league interns of facing stacked boxes and is averaging 5.6 YPC. I believe he was #1 and #2 his first two years and averaged 3.9 and 3.3 YPC. So imagine if he was on a team where defenses had to respect the passing game even a little bit.

I think it's worth considering that Aaron Jones just isn't that good.

To answer the question, Corey Davis, Allen Robinson, Kenyan Drake, Diggs, and Thielen come to mind.
