I said this earlier. His dead cap hit is only 2 million next year. He's a UFA in 2021. The could easily cut bait at the end of the year.

They absolutely could which is why so think they grabbed Grier, who unfortunately for them looked quite bad although early in his career.

I could see him being a backup but I'm not sure his ego could handle it. Or Brady will retire and BB will go after Cam and somehow revitalize him.

Theoretically, the Panthers could save $19M by cutting Cam in the offseason, but there's no chance they do that. Who would they play at QB? Will Grier?

But long-term, they do have a decision to make. Cam is a free agent in 2021 and wear/tear from injuries has made his future cloudy.

I actually think its the foot thats bothering him. Watching the game last night he was always slow getting out of the huddle and watching him walk around he moved slowly and seemed to be moving like he was trying to hide a limp. Would also explain his lack of rushing.

FYI, I'm just going off vague memory here but I remember reading somewhere that he's always done this. Something about, always leaving the huddle slow because that way he doesn't give away to the defense if he's tired or not (cause I'm sure he'd get very fatigued in his peak days of running and taking hits).

Not sure if that source was BS or not, though. Maybe Panthers fans would know. And regardless I pretty much agree with everything else you said.

I guess the long-term, pipedream is the Panthers cut Cam in the offseason, start Will Grier, tank, and draft Trevor Lawrence.

Minshew plays well enough to keep Foles on the bench.
Jacksonville trades Foles to the Panthers for a 5th round pick.
Jags roll with The Stache and Foles is the bridge QB until Grier is ready.

Cam is done after this year IMO. I have seen nothing that shows me he is a QB that should be ranked as high as he his. He's burned me twice so far this year and he's going to sit on the bench until he gets consistent, which I don't see.
